I completely agree with everyone above. . .I don't think I have EVER had a cake without a least some air bubbles, sometimes even giant craters 😂 So I think the bubbles add a little more realism. However, if you find yourself getting frustrated, annoyed, dreading the idea of making them, then it is definitely not worth it! Your happiness and joy is so much more important!!! *Even if these soaps are unbelievably cute and I could just "eat them up" j/k obviously 😉*

These are so adorable!! Personally as a customer I would not mind the holes because they are so cute, but I think it’s understandable and admirable that you want your products to be the best quality they can be. I agree with other people that maybe making them only a few times a year is best since they are a lot of work. 😊

I always keep some soap dough made without fragrance or mica. Pinch off a piece and knead a teeny tiny amount of whatever color it needs to be into it. You can fill the air bubbles with it and let them cure. Or just leave them as is. Super cute!!

I HAVE AN IDEA: Have you thought about using an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner to settle the bubbles? If you use a jewelry cleaner to hold the mold in while you pour each layer, turning it on will sift the bubbles to the top to make it easier for you to not have to fill gaps in later. And if you then pour ice water outside the mold after bubbles have settled in the jewelry cleaners “tub” it’s sitting in (which those kind of machines are meant to have water/solvents poured in), the soap may also set faster so it doesn’t take so long to make these. I love this design, so I hope this can help a lot with your work flow. Create a few molds and buy a few jewelry cleaners and you should be able to make many multiples at once. Good luck! I hope this helps you keep this cute little cake soap around! 🎂

You get PVC pipes, line them with release paper. Tape over one end of each tube (or buy end caps.) Fill as many of each color as you need. Unmold when firm. Cut on the soap cutter into slices. Stack slices in the order you want (possibly "gluing" them together with a dab of melt and pour or maybe they stick together ok if they aren't fully cured) inside of that purple mold you have. Cover with white. Do the rest of the process the way you normally do. This should eliminate the bubbles and save you some manufacturing time. Update: apparently you can "glue" soap layers together with a generous spray of rubbing alcohol. But that might work best for sticking already hard soap to liquid soap. Anyway, there is definitely a better and more efficient way to make these so that you can keep making them. I hope you are charging a fair price for them. $30-$40 for the whole cake maybe? For the amount of soap and the trouble to make them by hand, that seems about right, possible a little more, like $42. Don't sell yourself short just to make a buck.

If air pockets are a problem you may want to try what's called a Dental Vibrator. Dental Technicians use them to make air pockets rise out of their resins and other casting materials when making dentures and such. (Dental Tech degree coming in handy here lol) It's best to get one that comes with various vibration intensity settings to see which would work best with hot wax. Or just try a large heavy-duty body massager if you're on a budget. Basically, you just need to take your filled mold and put it on the bed and the vibrations should make all bubbles rise to the surface but the wax needs to stay fluid for around a min tops. It doesn't take long to drive the bubbles out. Hope this tip helps.

I’ve seen some shops sell versions of their products with small mistakes for a cheaper price. You should do the same with this. The cheaper price could make up for the air bubbles. You’re still making money and people who don’t have as much spending money can still but the soap. As long as it isn’t falling apart and a mess I personally wouldn’t see a problem with it.

Also, if you do keep making them would it be possible to like add some uncooked oatmeal to the cake part of the soap so that it's also exfoliating while giving it some needed visual texture for extra cuteness? Probably better to only make them on occasion or as special orders if they're tough to make. But the I think that oatmeal will be a great addition to it.

You know, those soap cakes with the spots where the air bubbles are/were prevalent are very reminisent of when you cut an actual cake and some of the crumbs come off. So I wouldn't scrap the idea altogether. I think you need to find a creative way to package them so that when people open it, the "crumbs" of the cake are on the bottom of the package. This can be made either with actual soap scraps or a drawing/picture of cake crumbs.

If you like making them and they sell you should keep making them. They are very cute! Figure out how to get less bubbles. A gentle few gentle taps on the mold with each layer should get the bubbles to rise at least so that they get filled with the next layer. Obviously add as little air to the soap as possible when heating. Maybe don't slice them? Although I guess it is easier for the end user. Also, maybe don't worry about that bubbles just try and get less and don't bother filling any.
