Ok here is the brutal facts no sugar coating; She is white and beautiful that is why the mother liked her from the first time, it doesn’t matter if her personality was bad. Let’s look at the other way round, if her son had introduced a black or dark skinned woman, the mother or father would have thrown a fit and not accepted her. It’s unfortunate how shallow a society can put looks before anything else. Good for the son, he was lucky to get a beautiful woman and obviously in terms of looks, the kids will be upgraded!!!

I believe my looks played a huge role in me being accepted. I, also, grew up (since 11) next door to my brother in law (husbands older bro by 15+ years) sister in law and paternal grandparents in law in the US. I have always wondered if it weren't for them, if my mother & father in law & maternal grandparents in law would've accepted me like they did. I once heard that my paternal grandma threatened my mother in law if she was anything other than pleasant to me when we 1st started dating. I'm black, adopted from Kenya and had a very rough start in life, those weren't desirable attributes to my in-laws but my parent's are well off and very respected within our community. It does seem shallow but all of these did play a role in me being accepted
@alwayswantingtochange2 жыл бұрын
So do they show any dislike towards your features? That sounds awfully sad, I'd like to be liked for my own achievements and what I've gained for myself
@msichanahuzuni2 жыл бұрын
@@alwayswantingtochange It's weird saying this myself but because some people may consider me as good-looking, I believe, it made it easier for me to be accepted. But it was still pretty hard for some people and it was solely based on my race. I have wondered if I was a white foreigner, if it would have been the same. Like, for example, my husband is a successful Dr and works at a huge clinic. I think he's gorgeous and some of the women at the clinic does too. It's gotten back to me that some feel he's wasted on me or it's shameful he married me. When he 1st started working there and he would be invited to work events, I was never invited when other spouses were. We both knew why and he would refuse to go but I did force him to go to some things because it's not a good thing to blow off your colleagues all the time. One night we went out to dinner and ran into his director and wife, I was invited to events after that. The wife told my husband that she was so surprised by my looks & couldn't believe how pretty I was. Usually my husband is great at countering this type of ignorance but considering it was his directors wife, he just thanked her. I LOVE my husband and am very proud of him but for a while it seemed like I was complimented on either being pretty or his accomplishments which has nothing to do with me.

Koreans are the first nation I ever met who were so fixated on looks, almost to a point of obsession. It's weird and frankly superficial of them. Grown adults don't normally obsess over looks too much, these things end in adolescence but in Korea, it seems to be a constant battle until the day you die. Very absurd, as if these people have no other values to uphold in their lives. Old people from other cultures normally develope a more mature perspective of life, they learn the importance of simpler things. But not in Korea
@Divineeyereadings3 жыл бұрын
That's generally my impression too. The superficial phase tends to die out around a person's 30s I feel like, here in the United States. But in Asia it seems to last a lifetime. Its really stressful. People think I'm crazy to hype analyze all this but I think it is unfair. Especially since I've seen so many talented people not get the same treatment just because of their looks. To me a person's face is more for identification purposes and shouldnt be a measure for someone's "value"

It is an outsider perspective looking in seeing something that isn’t the norm lol. I used to live in both world, so I’m used to seeing people (you know what I mean. It is like when you surrounded by the normal people of said ethnicity everyday, you just get use to their look). When I saw foreigner said this Asian girl/guy is beautiful/handsome, I was like look normal to me. And when I saw Asian said this foreigner is beautiful/handsome, I was like look normal to me lmao
@rinsolaris22842 жыл бұрын
@@andromedamessier3176 I understand what you're saying. But as an Asian, I can tell you it's not as simple. It's a more complex issue that has roots in European imperialism and colonialism, and American cultural imperialism. I won't discuss it in detail. Just know that whiteness is highly valued and considered a currency in Asia. Proximity to whiteness is a marker of higher socio-economic status, and it offers more personal and professional opportunities. Some countries put more value in it than others like India, Philippines, Japan, Vietnam, and South Korea. My partner is Italian. I'm tired of hearing, "Lucky you! Your future kids will look Western." My family would be dissapointed if the kid looks Asian.
