Now I can speak English easily, but I remember the time when, first I translated my thoughts into English in my mind and when someone said something I translated into my native language to catch the idea. But now I’m in that level when I can understand English without translating. And now I can speak three languages . I’m so proud of myself

@dothao40036 ай бұрын
@@ميعاد-ظ7ش i think you just need to practice a lot and when you get familiar with the language you don't need to to translate anymore. I'm on this journey and now I don't need to do it with basic English but I often get stuck with a higher level, I need to practice more to reach that goal. 💪💪

Language skills and speaking/writing skills are two different things. It is possible to be fluent in a language and yet be a poor speaker or writer. For example I consider myself a poor writer/speaker even in my own native language. Just because you know a language doesn't mean that you automatically are a good writer or speaker. Good speaking or writing requires skills that go beyond the language per se. You need to ask yourself what your priorities are. Do you want to learn a language or do you want to become a good speaker/writer? Those are two different separate goals. If you want to learn the language first then you should forget about speaking and writing and just focus on reading. Because reading a lot is the fastest way to acquire a good vocabulary and learn the language fast. Later you can focus on speaking and writing.

I sometimes speak English quite fluently and sometimes I don't. It's like an up-and-down situation for me, but I know I can handle it with more practice and exposure to the language, whether it is direct or not. I have to be honest with you guys, I've never had English conversations with native speakers in the real world. Maybe because I'm not social or outgoing, I have a special condition which I won't get into details about, or possibly I may think that spoken English is too fast in real-life situations out there. All of that makes me feel nervous or hesitant to truly communicate with others. How could you help me with my situation? Thanks in advance 😊.
@LEP-LearnEnglishPodcast2 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s completely normal to feel like your fluency varies from time to time, and it’s great that you’re aware of what might be holding you back. Here are a few tips that might help you build confidence: Practice in Small Steps: Start by having simple conversations in English, even if it’s with yourself or through language apps that connect you with other learners. It doesn’t have to be with native speakers right away. Shadowing: Listen to native speakers and repeat what they say. This will help you get used to the speed of spoken English without the pressure of real-time conversation. Join Online Communities: If you're not outgoing, joining online forums or language exchange platforms like HelloTalk or Tandem might help you practice without the stress of face-to-face interactions. Slow Down: It's okay to ask people to speak slower when you’re in conversations. Most people are happy to adjust their pace. Confidence Comes with Time: The more you expose yourself to English, even passively through podcasts, movies, or videos, the more comfortable you'll become over time. Don’t be too hard on yourself-your practice and awareness are key, and you’re on the right track. Keep going! 😊💪
