the best part is the T2 teams playing this comp have largely been beating teams that weren't even good enough to make it into Ascension. So like, a lot of the winrate data is from teams that you could argue are tier 2.5 or tier 3.

Interesting thoughts on map vetoes, but to add to what you said, I think LEV were coming in confident that they were the better team overall (1st seed NA vs 4th seed CN). And if you feel like you're the better team, playing on your more comfortable map "should" be a win (i.e. your good map > their best map, compared with uncomfortable map on both sides which is more of a gamble?)
