I met Booby Kennedy in 1968, as he stood talking to my father @ 7th & Florida Ave in Washington DC. His campaign rented the space connected to our restaurant. As he stood speaking to my father and other men, he looked at me and asked how old I was, I answered that I was 11 years old and he said " I have a son your age....". When I see this footage of him and hear the words that he spoke, I understand why our community (African Americans), as well as others had such high hopes for his presidency and why we felt a great sense of loss when he was assassinated. 🤔

He was definitely a loss to US politics. I'm not sure if he would have actually gotten the nomination had he lived, and it's worth speculating how his policies would have shaped up in practice.
