Am I the only one who doesn’t buy my kids stuff unless it’s their birthday, Christmas or if they have saved their allowance? I grew up as a spoiled kid getting whatever I wanted and it really screwed up my early adult years. Now that I’m almost 40 with 2 kids I made a commitment to raise them the complete opposite way

The most my daughter gets is little snacks/treats which are literally just that, treats, because I wouldn't normally purchase them, however I don't buy her luxury items unless it's a special occasion. Having said that she has everything she could want/need. I always buy her clothes/shoes when needed and any essential toiletries as I feel like they are a necessity. She asks for books, electronics, toys, games etc on special occasions and I feel like that makes it much more fun and enjoyable, and shows children the importance of patience

Abbey is not creating a well rounded empathetic daughter . She calls Walmart clothes “duuuuupes” to expensive brands ?? Wtf. Imagine M going to school and making fun of someone for wearing Walmart clothes :( or maybe not being able to have as many swuishmallows that she does

Thank you for this comment ! I don’t think people realize the negative impact of spoiling a child , I had the opposite. I was adopted into an abusive family , even things like food. Lock on the pantry door. Wasn’t allowed to eat anything unless I specifically asked and was watched etc, that also messed me up too ! I think extremes on either end are never good. And it’s good to have a balance like exactly what you said ! Your kids will grow up to be well rounded adults for sure

And the reason is, first im a cancer so the animal is a crab.
