As a junk.journalist, I would take photos or send it to a professional copy service. This IS A collectable! Someone in the UK would ADORE this beautiful Scrapbook! Put it on EBay as a collectible! It's worth at minimum $50.

I took my dad’s scrapbook from WWII that was crumbling and made a junk journal of it for me. He was my best friend and the memories in that book are priceless to look at it. TFS the Queen Elizabeth scrapbook. I know you’ll figure out what to do with it. A museum would definitely love it!!

I would get it appraised first. Ask if they could give recommendations as to who might be interested. A museum in England would probably like it. Since the Queen has passed, it would be even more valuable to a museum or collector. So glad you rescued it. Good luck with such a wonderful find.

A hand held scanner might be a good way copy the pages. It wouldn't necessarily have to get the pages out of the book to lay flat. Once scanned I would sell it to a collector who would cherish it, if you can find one. A small museum might be happy with it. Museums say now washed hands are better than gloves so you didn't hurt anything by touching it.

A lot of those pictures in the scrapbook of Queen Elizabeth are ones I've never seen before. They might have value, especially to a memorabilia collector of the royal family. It's a really exciting find.

My grandmother used to make scrapbooks. She used poetry and stories and articles from newspaper, etc. My sister and I had copies made and bound professionally and stored the original. So we have the bound copy to read and handle. I would use it for a few junk journals.

I totally would appreciate having that! It seems a kid might have put it together based on the handwritting in one of the first few pages. I like the idea of photocopying it and creating some craft with it. And, yes, maybe an University would like to have it in their archives!

I have my grandmother’s scrapbook, she did in the 30’s/40’s. It’s so fragile too. I would put on cotton gloves to handle it, bare hands are damaging!

Fascinating find! What a piece of history! The woman by your thumb at 4:04 was Prince Philip's mother, Princess Alice - also known as the "Deaf Princess Nun"! My favourite quote from her was during WW2 while she was living in Greece, under Nazi occupation; she was secretly hiding a Jewish family in her home, but she was in a position that allowed her to go in and out of the country, bringing in medical supplies and whatever was needed. Because her sons-in-laws were German nobility (which meant they were officers in the military), the Nazis assumed she was on their side; when the commander asked what he could do for her, she answered, "Get out of my country"! She had spirit!

In some libraries they have large scanners to scan double pages of large books...

First of all...Scan them and upload them immediately! For preservation purposes...use parchment paper on each page with a paper towel sheet in between each set of pages to minimize moisture and then place all inside a zip lock bag or something like that. That is an immediate solution for preservation. Definitely look in to selling it to a museum of sorts. What a fantastic find 👏 👌 😍 😀 ❤ 🙌 👏

I noticed many immigrants from the UK kept scrapbooks of the various events in the Royal Family’s lives. It brought a sense of pride and comfort to them as they’re now living in a far-away land from where they came from. On another note, I wanted to tell you that your “grunge” recipe also makes a great scratch repair on wood items. Also leaves a nice coffee/cinnamon smell instead of a strong chemical smell. 😊

There are actually many of these types of scrapbooks running around, & while they are interesting, I don't know if yours is valuable, as the photos & articles would be available in newspaper & photography archives, but I'll bet an amateur collector of English royal memorabilia would treasure it. Scrapbooking has been a popular activity for young ladies over the years; one technique was to take a discarded book or catalog & paste pictures onto the pages. I have a huge hardback wholesale catalog from 1903 that has been partly covered with the most incredible variety of pictures & newspaper articles--anything the author could get her (maybe his but I think not) hands on. I paid about $50 for it. I'm also lucky enough to have a scrapbook (with Mickey Mouse on the front!) that my grandmother & I made about my family deciding to move to a farm. I very much hope you can find a good home for your treasure!

I really do think it would be good to try to sell it to a historical society and they would know how to preserve it. Sad that I missed the Live feed of this! I believe that what I would do with it is a scan- in "notes" app on my IPhone, save that scan as a pdf and send it to my desktop! Then you can print the images off and craft till the cows come home! AND you will still have the originals to do with whatever your heart dictates! What a lovely problem to have ! Don't just take pictures of these- use the notes app- it creates a fabulous clear pdf! BTW- IT is -30 C here today with a good stiff breeze- Yup, Hussar Alberta Canada

I have my great grandmothers scrap book. I didn’t want to take them out of the book for the same reason you did. What I did to preserve it was bought the clear sleeve from Hobby Lobby in the scrapbook section and put it over the pages to preserve them.

Another idea with scraps is to make a big master board and then when it’s dry, cut into tags, journal cards, journal covers, etc. I love using my scraps!

I wish there was a way to use the stuff you spray on painting. Could you laminate them. You can sell pictures in your shop. They are fantastic pics. I would use a good quality camera and lighting to take photos of the clippings so you can upload and save without risking damage to the pages. It is definitely a beautiful find!
