Genuinely can’t tell you how many different curry’s I have tried on my quest to find that truly authentic Chinese chippy curry and I will tell you now. Give up, you won’t find it! I then discovered Ziang’s ! Him and his mum had a takeaway and they have a KZbin channel that shows you how to make authentic Chinese takeaway food at home, they also have a website that sells the exact products most takeaways use. They produce and sell curry sauce paste and hand on heart, it is the curry you had in the 80s from the local chippy! Mayflower is ok but comes nowhere near!

I've always thought chippy curry sauce was essentially a basic Chinese curry sauce? Would like to try some of those mayflower meals but never seen them down south. Nearest heron foods is about 100 miles from me.

I've had many curry sauces from many chippys all around the country, the best by an absolute mile is from miller's fish and chips in Haxby, just north of York. Unreal.

I had one of these after work last night with bread and butter.for a late night snack and convenience it's fine .and as you say 1.39 ,you pay that for a tea or coffee now .I've always been a bit iffy about that Xcel range.anyone tried it? What's it like?

Deanoo, try this next time you eat this- dice an onion, pop it into a pan with some veg oil and once youve microwaved the chips and curry, toss it all in the pan on high heat to thicken the sauce and add a little crunch, i promise you the minimum effort you put in and the finished result is frickin amazing and it wont even take no more than 10 minutes

i buy their chinese extra hot curry sauce powder all the time its tasty not too hot and only about a pound a box in b&m

Better cooked in oven bro,crispy chips.Best curry sauce mix is yeungs in Scotland a ,I don't know if you get it in England but in Scotland it's as close to takeaway curry sauce you will find
