For anyone interested, in the NINA framing assistant there is a button shown here called "Determine rotation from camera". This will make a short exposure and determine exactly the rotation of your camera and update the view accordingly.

And set the rotator to manual and you will get a window which tells you to rotate your camera how much in what direction, its brilliant!

Hi Cuiv, thanks for the amazing video and I couldn't agree with you more, NINA is absolutely mind-blowing! It makes me smile every time I just assign a new target to my sequence template, this software is pure joy to use! I learned so much from you and your channel, but learning about NINA from you definitely made this hobby even more enjoyable. Even with very modest (or slightly inappropriate 😅) equipment it works like a charm and I am getting very good results 🙂

Hi there, Love your videos, and have learned a lot from you. I am currently switching from my Celestron AVX, to a recently purchased used Iopton CEM40 EC mount. I have never used a mount via my computer that did not come with it's own computer program, as did the Celestron...I do not like that software, but I was able to do all of my aligning with it. So, that being said, I have switched to using NINA to run my new mount. From what I understand, and please tell me if I am wrong, as long as I am polar aligned, and I do have the Ipolar on the new mount, NINA should be able to find targets based on the GPS info that the mount is providing the NINA program...is this correct? I am so use to doing an alignment procedure that I am not sure if what I understand about NINA is correct. Do I have to plate solve when I get to an area of the sky?? SO much to learn. I have been watching yours, and Patriot Astros videos on NINA, but it is so deep it is hard to know where to start. The fact that I can get everything to talk to NINA, was a win!! Wish I could talk to you offline as I know that this is a long note! Thanks again for your very helpful videos!! Mark

Hey Cuiv, thanks for showing the full process of starting up the imaging, it's not something that everyone shows. I wanted to ask you a thing, is the hyperstar as bad to collimate as everyone says? I guess that if you keep the setup outside it won't be as susceptible as if you took it off every time
@CuivTheLazyGeek
@CuivTheLazyGeek 2 жыл бұрын
For me using Hyperstar's default technique of using plastic shims to achieve initial collimation worked great. On many SCTs though the corrector is not quite perfectly centered, so the best thing to do is to center the corrector prior to using Hyperstar (tons of tutorials on that, although I don't think the C6 can be adjusted in that respect - my C6 is just good optical quality from the get go).

Great clip and compliments for the beautiful image. I have a question regarding the first PHD warning "timed-out waiting for guider to settle". It is not related , in my case, to clouds or other PHD guiding issues; I have this warning ever but PHD and NINA continue to work well during the session. I read thsi is a PHD setting issue into NINA and I tried some settings but without success. Any suggestions? Thanks
@CuivTheLazyGeek
@CuivTheLazyGeek 2 жыл бұрын
Means that after dither PHD2 isn't able to stabilize the star within a certain threshold in pixels/arcsecs (user-defined) within a specific time limit (also user defined). Both settings can be changed in NINA (Guider connection tab)

Hello Cuiv!

I also switch to NINA, not so long time ago... And i still use only basic sequencer. But NINA works amazing! Great plugins, ande features. I really like 3 star polar aligment, 3-5 minutes and i can get around arcsec accurancy for polar aligment, without any extra assecories, only the telescope and camera. Another great result. Funny you should mention GreenSwamp. I wasted an hour with hassles over EQmod last night - for no obvious reason it started thinking targets in the NE and NW were both somehow sub-horizon in the SW - swapped to GS for the first time (helps if you remember to tweak PHD2 as well) and suddenly everything started working and I got a tonne of data on a couple of targets. Hi Cuiv, welcome back. You may want to check out Bill Blanshan's recent video (back in September I think) on how to add stars back. According to him, Star XTerminator's unscreen star option still changes the color and luminacity of the stars. He has a new tool that works extremely well and is very easy to use. He went into details on how the pixel math script works that is all Greek to me but you may find them interesting.

Hi Cuiv, great showcase of imaging with NINA. One question though, why a Hyperstar f 1,9 and an L-Extreme, I guess your Hyperstar will be actually more like a F6 due to spectral shift. I guess Idas NBZ would be a better option for this scope? I use a dual rasa8 with NBZ and now switched to mono with the latest SHO UHS filterset from IDAS. Not tested yet though...cloud over the netherlands for weeks unfortunately.

That looks great. I wonder if your NINA framing wizard will let you click add target to sequence and clicking send to simple sequencer, will it open the simple sequence? Mine used to but suddenly recently it won't open the simple sequencer. The advanced one is way more complicated than I need. Now it just says it's added. But it never is. So I try to add it again and it asks me if I want to replace sequence, because it's already written. But it's not anywhere on my hard drive and it doesn't open the Simple Sequencer either. I'm curious if it's just me and my 2 computers or if it's a bug. I asked in the NINA facebook group and of coarse it can't be a mistake on their part.

Besides not having ZWO cameras to be honest compared to PC-based setup with NINA, the ASIAIR is a bit of a downgrade, as I'd lose quite a bit of functionality (from auto-sync of files to my network to more advanced debugging in case of issues, etc.). It's a great device, but not as powerful (or lazy) as a properly set up NINA :)

New to astrophotography so this may be a dumb question but are hydrogen and oxygen the only gases found or can be imaged from a nebula? Are helium, nitrogen or other gases just not visible? Is it that they just don't glow when a nearby star shines on them? I mean I would think and I'm probably wrong, but I would think that there would be more helium around after a star exploded than hydrogen. I mean isn't fusing the bulk of it's hydrogen into helium and other elements why the star exploded in the first place? Again, I'm very new to this hobby and though it's very cool that one can separate the hyrodogen and oxygen in a nebula I thought it would be way cooler if one could see ALL the gases.

Сuiv, please tell me, I noticed that you have an offset value of 50 for this camera, this is the default, because on the forum who is in the woods, who is for firewood, from 50 to 300, or simply does not cycle on that and calculate for yourself during processing optimal value? Between this video and the previous one, I ordered myself such a camera)) So Tauptek owes you money))
@CuivTheLazyGeek
@CuivTheLazyGeek 2 жыл бұрын
Offset is a value that has very little ROI on optimizing. Ideally you'd get it as low as possible (but too low has a really bad impact), but the dynamic range you lose by having it too high is insignificant. So I leave it at default offset + gain 100! Hope you enjoy the camera, I wish I got kickbacks :p

Great video Cuiv Can hyperstar for the c6 use a 1.25 filter, and is the filter drawer worth it. I have a c6 and a 1.25 L extreme. (Anyone with this setup please chime in )

You'll want to ask Starizona about this - if you have a 533 or other small sensor camera, it might work with the correct filter adapter.

Is Chrome Remote Desktop the best option for this type of setup? I've started with UltraVNC but it's not ideal. It is very slow to refresh the screen and strangely it only does it faster while I'm moving the mouse...

The "good old days of astrophotography"... Just 30 years ago I was manually guiding with an illuminated reticle and using a Nikon F (film) to capture. That's like a cave man using a fire to cook a mastodon compared to a microwave oven and cup noodles. Astronomy has made some huge advances, especially for the amateur, in the last two decades.

Please explain to me why everyone seems to thing taking Flats is such a pain in the A. I myself take a set after every session of imaging and I don't think it's a pain. Its actually very easy and I think it's necessary.
@CuivTheLazyGeek
@CuivTheLazyGeek 2 жыл бұрын
Because it's a pain in the A! At least for me. It takes time when I'm already tired, I need to manipulate the scope, get my flat panel out, etc. Sure it's not difficult, but it still requires some time and effort. If it isn't a pain for you, then great! Definitely not necessary after every session in my experience, as long as the setup hasn't been moved!
