Depends: they can eat other fish, but really small ones. If they are extremely hungry they will eat fish that can fit in their mouth but not bigger fish than that

Tip for you, if you want the fish to survive, dont use the gills as a handle, damages them and makes it hard for the fish to breathe until they heal unless they die before that

There are loads of spots to find all sorts of aquarium fish , including Pacu, around Florida you and Paul should do some expeditions with some nets and traps etc. Pretty sure There's a website for locals for different fish.
