In the years I have fished Utah waters, I've still never hooked into a tiger. Tons of rainbows and cutthroats, and even some browns, and a tiny handful of brookies. But never a tiger.
@TenkaraAddict10 ай бұрын
The key is to fish little creeks that flow into lakes/reservoirs that tigers have been stocked in. I've caught tigers in probably 6 or 8 Utah creeks that way.

How fun. Some of the most surprising fishing for me has been on tiny creeks you wouldn’t expect to hold fish. I caught 10 rainbows including a 10” on a 20yd section of tiny creek in Idaho next to a remote forest road. That was some of the most fun I’ve ever had using a Tenkara rod.

I use the Redington Benchmark boots. I hate them. They don't stick well to slippery rocks. I don't remember if I was using waders in this video or not, but when I do wear them, they're the Chota Tundra Hippies. Great hip waders.

Rainbow trout and brook char can also hybrid and are known as cheetah trout. There is a chance that if browns are absent, then the hybrids may have been cheetahs. Thoughts?

A Tiger Trout that small must be naturally-occurring. They don't stock them that small, and they certainly don't stock that particular creek.
@Bneumanns12410 ай бұрын
Very strange to catch that many tiger trout and no browns though…
@caguas9710 ай бұрын
@@Bneumanns124 agreed. But looking at the 2023 DWR Stocking Report, they don't stock Tiger Trout in Duschene or Uintah counties smaller than 8 inches... sometimes 10 inches, though there are exceptions. I would be interested to know which lake this was, and whether these were just incredibly rare Tigers that occur naturally, or if they were incredibly improbably stocked trout that made their way up the creek for some reason.
@fishfoolishness422210 ай бұрын
Tiger trout are put in lakes to try to control sucker populations. They are hybrids that can not reproduce so obviously they do stock them in all sizes. They do get very large in lakes with lots of suckers.
@jbreezy93.10 ай бұрын
@@caguas97 Anecdotal, but here in AZ we also have small creeks with brooks and browns. The naturally occurring tiger trout are so rare to find, but one was indeed recorded this year within a feeder creek to one of our stocking lakes. To see multiple fingerling tigers caught here was really amazing
@TenkaraAddict10 ай бұрын
Utah does indeed stock fingerling tiger trout throughout the state. The lake that this creek flows into was stocked with them, so I'm guessing that's why they're in this creek.

I've been watching your weekly videos for some time now, and it's very annoying that KZbin keeps doing this, and it's unfair to people like you when they reduce your subscribers for no reason, while they base their pay scale on how many views and subscribers you have.
