I Caught “Uncatchable” Shiny Pokémon!

Today I'm trying to catch rare, Shiny Pokemon while BEING a Pokemon! Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC (specifically the Indigo Disk) introduces the Synchro Machine which we can use to control our Pokemon, thus becoming one! But it has its risks, mostly to do with failing Shinies. But using a method I discovered by accident, we're going to herd wild pokemon and essentially catch "uncatchable" Shiny Pokemon!

A fun fact about synchro herding: wild species all seem to have a fear value, and each species that you use have a different intimidation value. If the species' intimidation value is higher than the fear value, they'll run away in the opposite direction on sight. If you don't, they'll move randomly. The intimidation value doesn't seem to be linked to anything in particular, but the intimidation and fear values are different, since Pokemon that aren't scared too easily, like Scyther, don't necessarily scare away Pokemon that are easier to scare. I won't pretend I researched it very extensively, but that's what a few hours of research gave me as a conclusion.

@@MrLozzerfacee I tried researching if abilities made a difference, it looks like they don't. 0 correlation between being able to scare Pokemon and: -Level -Height -Weight -Type advantage -Base Stats -Movement Speed -Ability -Moves It seems strictly based on species.

for the second elekid it was at its roaming radius, that's why it didn't go closer to you. essentially, pokemon can only go a certain distance from the point they spawned from and when they walk its usually a set distance and the end point can only exist within the roaming radius. that's why the elekid kept walking back and forth. the roaming radius is bigger than the spawn radius. some pokemon are an exception usually ones that are on a set path like certain carkoal and rolycoly in the area of the orthworm titan or the rolling donphan near the top of the mountain next to alfornata.

I would have loved to do this to that one shiny fletchinder I accidentally killed in synchro mode. I didn’t even have time to process it but I definitely remember it being shiny for those few seconds I saw it. Doesn’t help that fletchinder are the type of Pokémon that go after you rather than running away or just chilling.

From experience and how to always successfully save the shiny,one simple thing. Don't ever stick so close to it,no matter what. You have to be near it,yes. But being so close to a shiny that's scared of your Pokémon will make it not stop going back and forth,and for Pokémon such as Farigiraf,you just have to be patient with them. Stay close but not too close to them and let them just walk towards your character. It will take a long time,but as someone once said,patience is a virtue. I hope this helps for everyone

The difficulty of herding is why I went months without touching Synchro. But the hide and seek videos make it look so fun, so I tried it out again... and actually did find a Shiny. Right next to my trainer, luckily.

Thank you for getting that shiny trapinch. Once when I was syncing with my raging bolt I found a shiny trapinch. I thought I was close enough to it to catch it but I couldn't find it. I took a video on my switch and I was close enough but I ran around to much so it de spawned. I would also like the trapinch to be named Stone.
