I'll give you a go, as an amateur. Take the first one: it's in Europe. The houses are small with tiny windows and it's a very poor country, or was one so it's ex-Communist. It's far to the east, it looks very inland, and the clouds also look like this far from the coasts. But it doesn't look like Russia or Ukraine, which have a different vibe to them, and Poland is a lot more green. The road is in good condition. I don't know the road markings, but ZigZag will. Not all the countries in Eastern Europe So it's likely in Hungary or Romania. It's flat, so it's not the mountainous parts of Romania in the middle, so it's either near the east, north, or west. I'd probably go west Romania as a hedge since I don't know which of the two countries it is. I can do all of this without much thought in less than ten seconds, a pro-level player like ZigZag can do it in 1-2 seconds and get a better guess than me, mostly through experience and learning things that are specific to countries and their regions (eg electricity poles, trees, houses)

Personally I disagree that it makes for better viewing as I don't enjoy seeing people lose unfairly because of them; Orlando probably would have won the Americas tournament vs Gingey without them for instance. Fair enough if you really don't mind, but I think quite a lot of people would at the very least like them reduced in value a lot. Geoguessr is plenty fun without them!

yeah shimmy does very well in pro tournaments and holds tons of world records, would have been cool if he applied for the world cup but he didnt want to. to the other comment, they were obviously using "they" instead of "he" because they just werent sure what pronouns shimmy uses. its a totally normal thing
