i do love seeing ppl who assume mercy gets free value struggle when they realize just how Helpless you can feel- simply “existing” is a lot harder when you can’t really defend yourself

you have movement to defend yourself, I'm not an insane mercy (usual support rank diamond, could maybe hit masters if I played mercy more idk) but movement and positioning helps a lot surviving (also your only tool ofc, but you get my point, it's more than enough)

@@zondaken yeah her ga helps us survive but, when we say we can’t defend ourselves as mercy we mean we’re really dependent on our team. if no ones around to fly towards, then what? pull out a pistol? ok. every other support has something to protect themselves with. zen has their discord orbs, moira has her invisibility/healing orb, kiriko has her teleportation/suzu, lucio has his speed, brig has her shield, lifeweaver isnt that great but he does have his double jump that automatically heals him. i don’t need to explain for bap and ana. if mercy had like, a shield bubble she could equip sometimes, like zarya but longer cooldown to use again, then she wouldn’t feel so helpless

@@scarletl9081 no she literally has GA. Similar to moira fade which you listed. If you have no mate to fly to then poor awareness or lost teamfight in which case its poor awareness anyways.

@@zondakenmovement only helps you to an extent. that 3.5 second GA cooldown really screws you over if you’re not extra cautious about it. and basic GA (1.5 seconds) cancel with a bunny hop after only gets you so far too. point is, ga isn’t a get out of jail free card like you may think.

saint definitely is struggling with ga and mainly superjumping instead of slingshotting or canceling ga for the extra cooldown but not too bad for 15minutes on mercy

@@MintRot it does if u do a slingshot the cooldown is 3 seconds but if u cancel ga it shortens the cooldown to 1.5 seconds

@@MintRot If you don’t do the slingshot/superjump, the 1.5s cooldown begins as soon as the GA ends, even if you cancel it early. If you cancel the GA with slingshot/superjump, then the ability duration continues for an additional, uncancellable 1.5s before the 1.5s cooldown begins. So, the loss of control over the ability duration only occurs if you do a slingshot/superjump.

@@MintRot It is still possible to the shorten CD , although it is a bug that is probably going to get fixed at some point. If you cancel GA and press crouch/jump at the exact same time you still get the extra movement but the ability isn't kept in a forced activated state. Andriatic had this in a video a while ago if you wanna look it up. I just tested it in practice range and it is still possible as of today

I swear practically every player who is new to Mercy, even if they’re quite skilled and experienced at the game generally, does the “literally try to Rez every soul they see” thing. I get that learning when a Rez is safe and valuable is an actual skill, so it’s expected that they’d misjudge a lot, but like… everyone has experience being on the receiving end of bad Rezzes, right? Or died for a Rez onto a teammate. It’s one of the most noticeable teammate mistakes. But it seems like almost no one is able to apply those experiences to actually playing Mercy themselves at first. The siren song call of the rez is too powerful. _Edit:_ To be clear, I’m not tryna throw shade. I was a bot rezzer too when I was first learning this hero too. I just find it interesting to see players even up to GM make this characteristically metal-rank mistake so consistently when they first start playing Mercy.

There are other ways to make mercy’s mistakes more punishable but nerfing GA’s cooldown was probably the most egregious of them all. Again, many mercy players share that they don’t care if they remove damage boost or resurrection as long as the movement stayed the same and the other abilities were replaced. I don’t agree that mercy’s damage boost is the ability that gains the most value. Zens discord orb is broken beyond belief in its current state and I don’t think a single other ability even compares. There are times when I’m mercy and I switch to zen because their tank is rolling; with a press of a button I instantly shut down any tank play and make even adept tank play incredibly hard with no effort or cooldown what so ever. I play so far back that it’s hard for divers to get me and I am constantly pumping in massive burst damage not to mention I’m also healing while this is happening. For reference, I have maybe 10 hours on zen out of 800+ hours.

It seems the devs who took over are really concerned about movement skills having a place in OW2 because they mentioned that CC "has a place in" OW2. I think nerfing GA was a byproduct of that new philosophy because it was more obvious when her movement appeared busted or overpowered as opposed to any other hero with movement. Personally I feel like mistakes were already incredibly punishing for Mercy and GA was the one thing she had to try and save herself if she was caught out of position or being dived. I don't mind them taking a look at GA but they should listen to high-rated Mercy players' feedback. Like Niandra and Skiesti (and others) were pointing out the issues with S3's changes and it took an entire season to fix oversights which is just really disheartening. Now we're likely going to go through S5 without any changes or updates on the direction they are taking her even though they have stated that they are aware her current state isn't exactly how they want her to feel.

Their beam management is Plat/Diamond 5 at best. They default/panic heal A LOT and it cost Ana Ult charge. There were so many times they were close to Valk or already had it and they'd heal Rein when Ana had it covered. Like I would not believe this was a Masters Support.

@@isabellleeah a lot of skills as transferable. having bad movement is expected, but ressing in lost fights, positioning, and panic healing are things a masters support should be more on top of, but a lot of ppls elo got inflated in ow2 so that's most likely the case. im a gm support with significantly more time on mercy than any of hero and i dont play other supports with those kinds of mistakes because those skills are transferable... use ur brain thanks

@@KoiPuff Been low masters 3 seasons in a row on supp, was more just being overwhelmed about what I should do. I mostly play zen and bap so I'm not really used to a more passive hero. Practically this whole game was me mentally panicking about trying to live and then brainfarting every time res was up. Maybe we'll have a sequel to see what I've learned :)

@@saiintFPS So hun, EVERYONE is inflated in OW2. Hell I’M inflated. I was trapped in Masters when OW1 ended and I hit GM in like 20 games of OW2 and never left. It’s not meant as an insult, it’s just a statement of fact. I really would watch back more of your own gameplay to see how much you’re hurting Ult economy by healing someone the other support has covered. That was the thing I noticed the most in this video. Ok one thing I got from watching non mercy players trying mercy (and think she’s too easy to play), except the careless rez, they have slower reaction time? Like there are lot of moments where I’d use GA to save my teammates or to avoid unnecessary damage but yeah, just meed more playtime and muscle memory.

@@saiintFPS Honestly, I think the level of gameplay is normal and expected given your lack of experience on the hero. The thing about how Mercy skills don’t transfer to other heroes is overstated, IMO, but there is some truth to it, and it cuts both ways. It’s kinda like how a lot of otherwise very skilled tank players just can’t play Ball, or skilled support players who just can’t play Lucio. Lucio is probably the better comparison, since he has a “just exist to get value” mode like Mercy does (even more so, actually, since he can heal without paying attention to whoever he’s healing). But, all 3 of those heroes have really unique movement and decision-making that are really central to their kits.

If you think a character should be deleted, you are just pathetic. I hate Doomfist but I don’t think he should be deleted. In fact, none of the characters deserve to be deleted. He plays Mercy just like he flames Mercy players - Brainless. Often not thinking what could be the best move, staying still (leading to beam breakage) and not even watching what happens to other teammates, rezzing in absolute no go situations, healbeam instead of dmg boost, boosting wrong target, rare GA usage and lackluster and even bad usage as it would sometimes be better to not use it at all, these random pistol times. Like he is literally not thinking at all about the game. These haters man.

Hello im a new mercy main and i just finished watching ur tutorial and guide on damage boost beam but whenever i damage boost a damage dealer or tank i just keep witnessing the death of my teammates any tips?

overall just have more awareness. your damage boost beam should automatically be your default beam, and your heal on the side. meaning, if your team needs extra healing in some cases, help your other support out by healing, but after you recognize that everything is settled, automatically go back to blue beam

I'm newbie as Mercy main. I have less then 100 hours on her and actually i can relate those awful rezs. I mean, i understand they are terrifying but still sometimes when I'm in panic or mb it's just instincts i go to rez in those risky situations thoughtlessly T.T I keep trying to get rid of this bad habit eheh P. S. And btw i think Mercy is a good support to start ur way in Overwatch bc positioning and moving are the only ways to stay alive. It's really helping on other heros then: to understand where u should be and what should u do (it's like this dilemma to rez or not to rez. Who should be alive the tank or the dps ect)

I saw someone describe that intense tunnel-vision need to Rez as “the sickness”, and I thought that was an apt name. I think everyone falls prey to it at first, and many players never recover. I dunno if this will help you, but the tip that helped my partner fight the sickness was “don’t Rez if you have teammates actively fighting”. I think part of the success of that tip was just that determining whether you have teammates actively fighting requires looking around, and that can make space for some actual consideration instead of going for the Rez reflexively. Space to notice things like, “hey actually everyone else is dead, so rezzing would be a feed” or “oh, there’s a Tracer by the body, I won’t live if I Rez”. But also, looking for lulls in the action means that your teammates are more likely survive the Rez, which makes the Rez more valuable. And, if the Rez timer expires before you have a moment where everyone is safe and healthy and not under fire, that’s okay. Usually, the teammate who died first will come back from spawn sooner than whoever would have died due to the lack of healing while you channeled the Rez.

I had the pleasure to meet one of the most Sweet mercys on a custom parkour game..she was so funny, always encouraging me on the levels, explaining to me how to pass it.. so i will never hate a true mercy main.. but the e girl type of players that use mercy ..i do ..i hate them a lot, cuz they don't know how to use her at all,and are always so toxic.
