To have better grip fit when in use, I changed the grip on the new for 2024 357 magnum Diamondback SDR revolver. It is a Hogue Monogrip J frame round butt rubber grip. You loose some concealability, but you gain a lot more.
Only the grip is different, nothing else.

So far you're the only guy that has a video on this revolver. And these are showing out of stock pretty much everywhere.

I swapped my stainless Taurus 605 to the same Hogue grips you have. They are awesome, especially when using .357 ammo. They make a huge difference, even when using standard .38 ammo.

I'm waiting anxiously to get one to evaluate @DiamondbackFirearms so much so I already have Blue Lok Grips for a lot of 357 shooting and some Rosewoood coming I hope from PremiumGunGrips and since I'm a bigger guy i think I'll be able to pocket carry w those too but get my pinky on. Now small grips that come on it are good for pocket carry which many will load .38+P like excellent Hydrashok Deep which I have Modern Meat Target tested twice and some Punch that I got to test from the SDR.

I had those hogues on my sp101. They really do work to help with recoil. I just hated the fact they have some creep in em when u give em a good squeeze. I got a gp100 with the hogue grip n it dosent have that problem. Take care

Absolutely; a good fitting grip for your hand size definitely helps. The Colt Cobra, for example, has a larger stock grip than most others on the market (one of the main reasons for why I purchased it)... And even though this competes more directly with the Kimber K6s, the K6s has a very small stock grip.

Its a concealed carry revolver, boot grips are the best for carrying, you can shoot accurately with practice with smaller grips

True. However, I’m a sucker for nice wood grips or even G10 on a revolver. I also prefer a 3 finger grip just for a bit more stability when shooting powerful .357 mag. I have one of these coming to my local FFL next week and this will probably replace my 360PD for edc.

I install hogue monogrips on all my j frames covers the back strap cushions recoil and gets all your fingers on the grip I carry my centennial Smith in my pocket in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster and I have no problem pocketing these larger hogue monogrips

The Hogue recoil tamers are a great replacement for boot grips. Boot grips are specifically designed to help conceal the gun but are uncomfortable to shoot for extended range sessions.

Diamondback was smart to design this new revolver to accept J-frame grips. I'd like for them to produce it with a satin finish, though.

The amount of time and money that can be spent on grips/stocks is just insane…i finally got a set of uncle mikes combat grips for my j frame last month and i ended up getting 3 more for my k’s and L frame. They are the perfect reach, comfort, and concealment for me. They’re definitely not pretty though

There is another video which showed a female shooting 38 Special revolvers with 2" barrels but with aftermarket grips which make them more shootable. The small factory wood grips are awful, especially with +P ammo.

IMO using a .357 round for defensive purposes makes absolutely no sense especially out of a Snub Nose revolver. .38 Caliber has worked wonders for LE and has been a proven reliable cartridge that has wounded, killed, injured perhaps thousands or perhaps more.... .357 is extremely hard to control, and it kicks like a mule and when your adrenaline is pumping, and stress is at an all time rate your shoots need to be controlled~.
@jaycamacho8179
@jaycamacho8179 28 күн бұрын
I agree but also disagree. I wouldn’t want to carry this with Buffalo Bore ammo at 600FPE out of a 2” barrel but there are plenty of other loads that can give you 300-400FPE which is pretty easy to manage out of a steel revolver. It’ll take practice but most can get used it.
