You might have air in your injection lines on your APU. Just crack the lines on the top of each injector and try to start it till it shoots out fuel instead of air. Then it may start.

Always better to do it yourself. My dad had a driver driving his truck while he took a vacation when I was a kid. He told the guy where to go for an oil change and to be sure he personally checked the drain plug. Well, long story short he didn’t check the plug and it evidently wasn’t tight and he ran the truck outta oil. Apparently couldn’t read an oil pressure gauge either.

This is just a random tip but for high temp paint we use john deere muffler paint.. weve tried other stuff but this lasts the longest.. not saying its the cheapest but thought id pass that on..

I would look in to getting a new DPF filter and keep one as a spare. If your on the road when it plugs you can stick the new one in and it won’t lay the truck up. You can clean it and if will be ready the next time it needs servicing

That is very impressive you were able to tackle that job!! The trucks we have at my job are all emissions and most of the out of services are due to re-gen system, also be careful on the fuel, we see alot of performance issues in the cold weather with bio diesel.

Im with ya Robert. I do all my work myself. Im disabled now [ M.S.]. I TRIED TO HAVE SOME work done and went t 3 diff places and paid alot of money.and still had to fix it correctly myself. Alachua county diesel repair down in Gainesville, Florida is a good shop David is reasonable and knowledgeable. the difference in the cleaning is probably because they are going to have it baked and flushed which is the proper way just simply doing a flush it will clog back up sooner than later those filters are so thick they end up with ash still stuck in the center without baking it first they probably use the same company we use on our tow trucks we use to just flush them and always had repeat issues since we've started sending them out to be baked we haven't had any repeat issues

Pitsburg power has a fuel treatment Max mileage its expensive but well worth it and you will notice a huge difference used in kw t680 and my dad's non dpf 5.9 Cummins both it improves fuel mileage and the kw. Has not did a regin in 6 weeks

On the Mack product they have what’s called a j pipe going from the manifold to the egr cooler inlet if that’s leaking that will cause low boost they are very finicky on how they seal

The diesel engines now are not that different than the past, other than the emissions. It seem like there should have been a better way to do it. I mean, here in SoCal, the air is still not great, but it is better than it was. If I lived on the east coast, I'd get an older truck with a Detroit and keep it up myself, and not worry about going to California.

You could coat the outside of the filters with POR15 next time to prevent them from rust and Corrosion instead of spay paint.

It’s not cheap owning a truck. That’s why you do it yourself. That crank case filter is no joke man. It’s expensive as hell for it. On the apu hold the start stop button it will over ride the buzzing and crank longer.

I take the DPF and Scr to my international dealership, they charge $1,200 to bake them. Yes there are gaskets at every joint, even though they are V clamps.

Robert I would try and fine a shop owned and operated by spanish guys. They’re good on mack and here in Florida is about 65-80 per hour. Been o/o 12 years now and 99% my truck is fixed same day and don’t have to come back for the same issue twice. Found out that the good ol boys wanna charge arm and a leg for the simplest things. If you pressure wash those DPF filters make damn sure they're totally dry before you put them back in put them in the oven at 350 degrees for about 3 hours make sure they're dry if not they'll clogged up cause your turbo to screw up among other things

Kenworth wanted $1400 in labor to replace my charge air cooler and intake actuator. I took my truck home. Bought a dura lite charge air cooler (7 year 1 million mile warranty) and bought the actuator from kenworth. I replaced both items together in under two hours. So basically kenworth was gonna change $700 per hour if it took them 2 hours also.

PS, if you clean you must make sure it is very dry. moisture will be bad on it will turn into steam, place a fan on it all night to dry it!!

Nice job on the filter. I'd take a test light and check to see if you have power going to the glow plugs on the APU before it starts cranking. Do you have an exhaust leak near the head? I thought I saw smoke puffing near the engine when it was cranking. Good luck. I understand the frustrations. I owned a few trucks, and one nickle dimmed me to death. Then it got to the point of no return because once I had that much money in it, it would have been foolish to stop. Then, things leveled out and the truck gave me great service. Good luck.

S o your actually stripping the metals out of the ceramic body using acid the best way to do this is take oven cleaner spray it all over them let it soak in then spray them again then stick them in an old oven that has self clean dirty side down when they come out good as new

All shops look at us like that like we don't know what's going on for sure, What I would do is get a second opinion and take it somewhere and let them plug it in and what you need to do is stand wright with them and look and see what's going on, Then make your decision And yes do a park regen on It and see what happens You need to clean everything up and then get somebody to clear all the codes in your computer And then rock and roll again and see what happens, I see you're doing your own work and that is good , When you put it back together make sure your seals are in properly in place If a does not seal up your lights gonna come back on, Looking good man you know what you're doing it looks better than what a shop would do , You just save yourself 4 to 5000 bucks good luck

Have you thought about getting a cable and the software to look at the computer yourself? Also, you might look into either electronic or paper service manuals if you haven't already as well. You definitely have more experience and know way more than I do about vehicles and I know it helps me at times to at least have some knowledge of what's going on before I talk with someone if I don't think I can tackle a repair myself. Good job on the DPF filter! I don't know what the material inside is, but you might try a foaming coil cleaner used on refrigeration and AC equipment. The foaming action pushes the crud out and then you rinse the h out of it. I'm sticking to no newer than 99 so no DPF for me! And as one who has done maintenance / repair work my whole life, it doesn't matter if your work bench is 4 ft. or 40 ft. you will find a way to clutter the whole thing up! I've been working on adding a winch to my trailer so I backed my flatbed truck half way into the garage so I had additional room to clutter up, but then had to clean it all up when I took the truck out back to try out the winch. You are learning as you go and teaching us at the same time. Win - win situation. Stay safe out there and keep the videos coming!

Crack the injectors lines and bleed the air out if the lines on the APU. Don't spray diesel fuel it won't work. Try a bit little bit of starting fluid.. too much and it will lock it up. I hope Yu changed the a/c orifice ??? They only cost like $5.00. Dollars..

Keep your head, all trucks have problems. I have the premium 2000 aftermarket warranty and it has saved me alot of money. It paid 7k towards new turbo, paid 4k for def problems, fixed my clutch. I dont think deleting it is worth it. Hard to find shops to work on a deleted truck, and that would be a major headache getting towed who knows where to find someone. Isn't it like 8k give or take to delete it?

Take it out open it up and put a filter in then weld it back up stick the damn thing back on crank case filter just take the inside of filter out clean it put brillo in it run a hose down toward ground never half to do it again

Problem is if you sit you make nothing and if it ships you sit. Ordered a 4" lug nut socket for my drive axles and I don't even know if it shipped yet after 3 days. But I'll keep buying the tools.
