It's nice to see your void logs. I think you teach everyone that wants to embrace entrepreneurship a valuable lesson: it's not about the knowledge you have, or the amount of money you can make, but to what truly bring a meaning to your work and your craft. I really feel the difference between your void logs, and the logs you did for your other projects/companies. And although you actually did really complex stuff in the past i feel that this really gives you passion to work on. You seem embraced by a wonderful community of people. That's actually nice to see, it's finding a meaning to your work and try to make a world a better place little by little. Hope everyone here can find happiness in your work.

Hey Ben, what happened to the cpu of the DB is that when u pumped to 40 connections you got a lot more threads running thus generating more overhead, and more locks on the DB, Nasty stuff. To have a rough estimate of what number of connections can work, you can take p95 of db request time then you multiply by the number of request per unit of time, and you will get an idea of how many connections you need. You can use other percentiles as this is kinda try and error (p95 worked quite good for us as it tolerated a bunch of slow queries at once)

Hi Ben great project. Not a front end dude but my 2 cents from an AWS perspective is that for the sort of scaling you say you need and the amount of operational complexity with running next.Js on serverless…. I would suggest kubernetes (EKS) for both front and backend. Even if you use fargate which IS serverless, you will get A TON of predictable and cheaper scaling while reducing operational complexity (tbh that depends on who you ask 😂)

@zheil91522 жыл бұрын
@@abdullahahmed7781 serverless-stack is a wrapper around CDK. You didn’t even look into what I was talking about. You just saw the word serverless and went off on a rant that has nothing to do with what I was suggesting because you’re an EKS user instead.

just see how much memory and cpu each connection of yours takes over it's lifetime, by looking at the stats (roughly), and then add as many connections as possible. Don't forget to account how many machines are making the connections

You could hash a string (such as the pet’s name) to get a ton of random numbers. You could use those random numbers to generate statistics for the pet. Idk how this would be used, but it would be a fun idea

Why not use AWS Amplify with S3 and CloudFront? Much cheaper with the same speeds.
@abdullahahmed77812 жыл бұрын
Not a front end guy but am an AWS professional… I believe Ben is using a server rendering library for their app which is not possible to host from S3 and cloud front. My 2 cents on this topic is that kubernetes on AWS is the way to go to for both front and backend. Will save cost over time and is rediculously scalable over short periods…
