Bounce it off a mirror, then you don't have to wave the whole laser around. Also, green lasers are somewhat delicate (look up "laser frequency doubling"). Normally this is done by bouncing the laser off a mirror that just rotates continuously, so you get a near-360 degree plane. It's called a plane spinner.

Some even use two mirrors, spinning at slightly different speeds, to make a flower shaped pattern (sounds like a near future project!)

@@Brick_Science Maybe think about revisiting this and do it with two mirrors which are spinning almost flat on the end of a shaft. One such thing creates a cone (a "cone spinner") and two, rotating at slightly different speeds, gets you lissajous figures, strange curved shapes with interesting mathematical properties. Try it. But get a slightly less big scary laser. That one is big and scary.

Pretty damn cool. A idea to contain the fog could be to add a sheet of plastic to both frame halves so the lasers light is more clear.

I thought instead of some contraption sucking the smoke frome the frame above while injecting it from the frame below. Maybe through multiple holes in a row like Technics beams. If he already hasn't made like this.

Green works better as it distorts due to its smaller wavelength, while red having a large wavelength is not easily distorted in fog like colloidal solution

some lasers aren't as powerful as what is used in the final product, however lasers that are REALLY powerful can burn your retna, which are the ones that you should definitely not toy around with.

it is so cool, but you could have used two little mirrors, glued back to back, spinning very fast and poit the laser to them...in this way the laser isn't moving and you can spinn the little double-sided mirror as fast as you want
