Appreciate all the analysis Forrest. I know it’s not exactly fun to talk about how you didn’t make a cut for 5 minutes in a video lol. I thought you bowled really well the last four games. I just got an Idol myself last week and shot 279 with it in league. It’s a nice ball. Anyway, don’t beat yourself up too bad, you were focused the whole time, that’s all you can ask for. Congrats to Brittany and keep grinding.

F***ing 10 pins, man... Ball selection and spare shooting were definitely the recipe for success. I think I had the two toughest pairs for games 7 and 8 (39-40 straight to 3-4) and they really highlighted some holes in my arsenal. It was great to watch Brittany shoot the lights out though! Big congrats to her

Awesome video! I love that you were not paying attention to the scores. I learned that little trick with golf. I have played a lot of competitive golf and found that I played my best when I didn't pay attention to score, just 100% focus on the immediate shot at hand. I am now doing that with bowling too. And with bowling I am now focusing very hard on making spares. Strikes will come, but you MUST make your spares or your strikes will mean little. Go Brittany Go! .. all the best of luck to Brittany! .. I really hope she wins!
@jasonnilges6370Ай бұрын
Hang in there Forest. You still bowled well and you salvaged your tournament. I beat myself up all the time when I miss a costly spare and shoot myself in the foot. Sometimes it's the difference in shooting 600+ or 700+. But as you know, all we can do is learn from it and move on. As Yoda said, "The greatest teacher, failure is".

I had my situation when I was at USBC Ohio State Singles/Doubles Event Bowling Tournament at Beaver Vu Bowl in Dayton, Ohio. I used the one strike ball that can crash the pocket and used the others that can't crash the pocket for spare shooting. Overall, I did really well, feeling the grind and managing to average above 200 in the Singles/Doubles Event, bringing the overall average of 195 in the 2 day bowling tournament weekend known as the USBC Ohio State Bowling Tournament.

Most of his league videos aren't shot on a fresh oil pattern. They're on the "burn", or after the lanes have been bowled on for multiple games. I've got a Ruby myself, and unless I'm on lanes that have been oiled less than 10 minutes prior and haven't had a chance to settle on the lanes, I never bring out the Ruby before game 2 even though it's my favorite bowling ball ever made.

Nice job, Forrest. I keep signing up for tournaments and backing out last minute because I just don't feel good enough. But I like how you always talk about what you learned or identify to work on whether you killed it or struggled a bit. You convinced me to give a tournament a try this summer!

Hey Forrest. Good run. Missed spares definitely sting a bit. I was fortunate to be on the other end of that a few weeks ago. I rolled a 258 in game 9 to get 1st place overall in a tournament by under 10 pins. Whenever I have a missed makeable, I have that feeling I won't make the cut, even if I string strikes afterwards. GO GET IT BRITTANY!!!

Good decision to not look at scores, never look at them it'll always throw you off. Only need 1 focus train and that's on your shots. I too have stopped looking at the scores when I'm at league and it's helping to build a nice mental game

@VAskater95Ай бұрын
Curious as to why you stopped throwing plastic at your right side spares. Is it so you can have an open spot in your bag for another ball or just something you wanted to try. Throwing it straight flat hand at 10 pins
@nordattackАй бұрын
I like what you are doing Forrest. Not looking at the score. Norm Duking your spares by just using your strike ball. I think those are both improvements to your game. The only thing I saw different from you compared to the other players that seemed to carry is they had more tilt and a less heavy ball roll than you. You have one of the heaviest one handed ball rolls I have seen. This can help and hurt. Your ball will tend to bleed off more energy in the front and not knife through the pins as sharply as some of the high tilt players. Again the heavy roll can be wonderful but sometimes too much for the pattern. Perhaps a second look at your layouts to optimize how the ball bleeds energy through the lane front to back with your heavy roll may be in order. Just a minor change could make your balls have a touch more pop in the back and get that last ounce of carry without any danger of loss of control. But overall you are looking very good and should not be disappointed in this performance.

Needed a cleaner ball. The pair we moved to was hooking more and the Vebo was reading the lane too hard
@billcain7821Ай бұрын
I was wondering when you were going to break out that Ruby, it seems to be your best ball when you're struggling and just grinding it out. The only thing that I noticed for you in this video is you seemed to miss your mark on the lane, you weren't as consistent at hitting it like you normally are in your video. Not sure if it was a loss of focus, concentration or what either way it was a great video to watch and at least you cashed right? Always look at the bright side of things ay? Congrats on Brit moving on and whish her a lot of luck, I think you did say this is her first PBA event, right? What away to go for a first time. Will be looking forward to the next video.

@MotivGuy94Ай бұрын
That Dustin guy has a very bizarre form to me, very delayed push away and very low backswing, but hey, it obviously works if he's popping 300s on tour 😂 just shows there's no "right" way to bowl, just basic fundamentals to become then personalize your own form around it

Out of every negative you must take positives out of it. Yes you didn’t make the cut but like you said you kept your head in the game & didn’t give up & barely missed the cut so there’s a positive there. Another positive is Brittney shot the lights out & kicked some ass 2nd place, wow that’s impressive. I’ve no doubt she’ll be nervous but she should play her own game & most importantly enjoy the experience. Brittney will always have an ace in the hole….you because she’ll have you as her cheerleader but she won’t want to see you in a skirt & Pon poms !!! All joking aside Brittney you go girl & bring home that trophy.

Not that Im in your shoes my man, but it seems like every video you fall a little short of your goals....you let something impact your mental game a bit and your follow through on the last game shortens a bit. Like instead of being relaxed and doing what YOU KNOW your awesome at doing, you hesitate with your release. Not sure how much you look at comments, but if you read this one, analyze the video and see if Im completely F'ed or if there is something to it. Your such a solid guy, I am always rooting for your success.

Good shooting but you could have done better, i noticed your chest is facing the lane to your right a lot of times and your left slide foot is not pointing towards your intended target down the lane and that was making you miss your focal targets a lot and you kept pulling the ball sometimes and either opening up to much but you will notice in your video every time your slide foot was a bit straighter and you had a better releasee and your chest was also not so side on those shots were excellent.
