How did they end up 10th? With illumina and 5up being on the team??

a series of underperformances (biggest one probably being ace race, which i assumed to be aqua's strongest game and they got 5th) and they also got very unlucky with meltdown, which dropped the team morale. also, this team was already on the weaker side (it's illustrated best by 5up (i think) after DB, aqua is simply a much weaker version of yellow: 1 mechanically skilled player, 1 IGL, 2 weaker players. the difference comes in the fact that antfrost > 5up in terms of skill, purpled is very slightly better than illumina in terms of indiv. consistency, and velvet + gumi > impulse + scar). i would love to see 5up and illumina on the same team again at some point, though. their vibes are very similar which makes them fun to watch together, plus i feel like this duo has huge potential for popoffs

5up was also sick if you didn’t know. You could kind of tell with the 3rd round of sky battle were it took him half the round to give his team the diamond boots.

@@crazypizzaman4332 yeah i was on the stream until 5up raided ant, he mentioned it briefly at the very end of his stream. but i remember talking in a very distressed manner towards the screen just like "the boots?!"

It's cause everyone in this event was so strong. Two teams with double S-tiers, and 9 S-tiers total. Aqua would've been strong in a normal event, but here they were predicted bottom half. Also I think Impulse changed his mouse sensitivity shortly before MCC and that screwed up his performance a bit. Unfortunate, I'd like to see them get another shot someday though!
