I wrote this simple nocturne in B minor instead this past weekend instead of studying for the most important exam of my life! Was it worth it?

@uncertainity188 Ай бұрын
There are two notes before the 'melody' (it is really apart of the melody). This is, in no way, unique to Chopin. It's something that dates back to Baroque dances and before. There're just pickup notes. Listen to another composer.
@sgt_yeet
@sgt_yeet Ай бұрын
@@uncertainity188 It is a very Chopin-esc piece though. The romantic chords/progressions, the arpeggio bass line, the development of the theme into a more complicated version of itself, etc
@galaxy.9162
@galaxy.9162 Ай бұрын
@@uncertainity188Im not discrediting this composer in anyway saying they are copying Chopin I’m simply pointing out cool similarities, like at 1:29 he writes 5 notes (its just a turn but without the symbol) but thats very Chopin-like in his 9/2 or his 28/4, this reminds me of a mix of nocturnes 9/1, 72/1, and 27/2.
@uncertainity188
@uncertainity188 Ай бұрын
@@sgt_yeetI really don't see many similarities. The piece is Chopin-esque insofar as it is a romantic piece written for the piano, but beyond that, there are few similarities.
@uncertainity188
@uncertainity188 Ай бұрын
@galaxy.9162 My point still stands regardless. It's not Chopin-like because it features basic elements found in basicaly all of classical music preceding and including the romantic period. Also, this turn you are describing, similar to the pickup notes. dates back to the baroque period.

Very nice nocturne! To me, it feels in 4/4 with the accompaniment in triplets... it's much more common that what you wrote. Not so common to find a 12/8 with so many duplets.

the figuration of the choral at 4:22 is beautiful. also a very nice nocturne in general! I thought at some point that I feels a tiny bit long but that might be due to the lifeless digital playback (good job by the way on making it sound this good nonetheless).
