There’s plenty of cilantro in Vietnamese cooking. About 10% of the population of the world has a mutation enzyme that causes cilantro to taste like soap. Sucks for sure

Yeah, we use a ton of cilantro...we use more fresh herbs than pretty much any other cuisine out there so we're not afraid of fresh herbs. She's just not used to Mexican food and it may never be her favorite. It's not mine even though I know many in the US love it. I prefer Cajun (which many Viets do love), Middle Eastern (probably too sour for most Viets), Mediterranean (salads can be sour due to vinaigrette dressings), and Thai/Laos/Vietnamese cuisines.

It's because Vietnamese food is amazing that nothing else compares. LOL! You give her a few years and she'll learn to tolerate most of the flavors if not love it. She may never love Mexican food, though. I prefer other cuisines over Mexican or Indian. I love Cajun (which many Viets LOVE), Middle Eastern (she probably won't like this cuisine as it is very sour compared to what she's used to eating as they love lemons), Mediterranean, and the Thai/Laos/Vietnam foods.

I’m a Californian and I don’t love tacos. There I said it. I definitely grew to like it more than before. I used to really not like the taco shell. Grew up Asian and it was weird to me at first. Started liking it after a lotta tries and now it’s pretty good to me

Where she is from Hue (also where QT's family is from), they eat a bit spicier than the North or South parts of Vietnam, I believe. But overall, Vietnamese don't really eat really spicy food. They put Thai style chilies in their flavored fish sauce which is used in a lot of meals, but it's not really spicy. Or maybe I'm just immune to it. LOL
