Travis, I enjoy these videos and been listening to them when on my walks, though one of them I didn’t get to finish and looks like I won’t be able to. As we get older, we often reflect and have a change in value for life. I tend to look at the positives and what the future could hold. It took me a while to realize that my outlook on life was very much changed when I had open heart surgery in 94. 30 years later, I have enjoyed life, travelled a bunch and remember that my surgery, as scary as it was, bought me more time on this rock hurling through space. From one internet stranger to another, I wish you the best and will continue to enjoy listening to you while on walks and hikes for as long as you keep wanting to put out your work.

You are so positive and encouraging to those on YT looking to grow, and while it is certainly ok to be in tune with your mortality, be sure to reserve some of that positivity for yourself as well. You may not have checked all the boxes that you would have hoped to check at this point in your life, but try not to shoot a burning arrow at a ship that may not have sailed yet. I can see that you have professional relationships filed with people that care about you and I think your comment section here is a beautiful demonstration that compassion and empathy are not dead in 2024. Physical health battles can rely on positive mental health and a strong will to fight as much as they rely on good physical habits. Prayers for you Travis!

Travis - I completely feel you and can relate. I just turned 50. And ny health could be better. However i lost over 120 lb and kept it off for about 7 years now. My doctor told me I was diabetic 7 years ago, type 2, and completely reversed it through the keto diet and exercise. I exercise daily. Minimum 30 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical. I was lucky my wife cooks healthy for me. I also use intermittent fasting. I promise if I can do it, you can. There's no magic. It just took discipline. And I lacked it until I was told I had diabetes and I did not want to die or have complications. I feel like I can hear the sadness in your voice also. I will definitely pray for you. I've enjoyed listening and watching your content. But I can tell you're different than how you used to be. The epidemic of men and loneliness as we get older is real. I'm glad to reach out and be your friend even if it's just via text, skype, etc. Please let me know how I can help. I can always use another friend. I'd be glad to listen and tell you what works for me. 🙏🏽❤

A bit about my journey, perhaps it will help you in your journey. In 2015, my doc told me I HAD to make changes or else. So I decided to set a goal of losing 50lbs before my 50th birthday. Worked my ass off, ate better. Lost the 50lbs just after my 50th. Early in 2016, doc says it's time for that colonoscopy. Boom. Colon Cancer. I had worked so hard and to be told I had Cancer just utterly deflated me. Had surgery to remove part of my colon. They got it all. No chemo required (big relief!). Because of the surgery the only exercise I could do is running, so I started doing that. I've been a runner ever since. I slipped in my weight loss during the pandemic and gained back 40 of it. So disappointed in myself. Then came the warning from the doc again. So, I kicked my exercise into high gear starting 2 years ago, and today I am in the best shape of my life (minus a little bit of my colon, mind you!). You can beat type 2. You already know how to lose the weight. Find a routine of exercise you enjoy, and set your intentions of what day and time you will do these workouts. Stick to that schedule. This is your time. You can do this. For reference, and mind you, Im a little crazy, but I get up at 1:15am to go to my gym. Less people, I can focus. Of course that means I go to bed at 7pm every night too, but it's MY schedule and I keep it. Find what works for you buddy. You got this! I am rooting for you, and so are a lot of people here. Love your content. Keep up the great work!

I want to send you some encouragement, brother. I was diagnosed as a diabetic around 2018. As a result of that along with COVID, I ended up also getting neuropathy. In a weird way, it might be one of the best things to happen to me. My diet isn't perfect but I'm more aware of what I eat now. I slowed down on eating the sugary crap. I don't eat entire Little Debbie boxes now. I carve out time to get to the gym, and now I wear medium shirts instead of XL. I forward think about things now on how it could affect my wife and daughter. I'm 45 and honestly feel as good as I've felt in years. I have my good and bad days every week. But l'm so grateful for it all now. These kind of situations can be an absolute blessing, depends on how you approach them. Bro, you can do this! If I can ever give you any advice on it or you just want to chat or vent, look me up!

Travis, I wish you the best of luck with your medical journey and life journey in general. What you had to say was very educational, and I can totally relate. I was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes only three months ago. I have been losing weight and trying my best to manage it. Unfortunately, it tends to run in my family, So I knew I would get it one day. Luckily, I don't have a severe case and can manage it with diet, exercise, and one pill a day. Hopefully, soon, I won't even need the pill any longer. Luckily, I never got really heavy or anything like that. But I hope to hit my target weight within the next 7 to 10 months. Hopefully, that will mean I'm healthy enough not to need any medication. Cutting out carbohydrates is the biggest thing with type 2. Cutting carbs also leads to fast weight loss. I've already lost 30 lbs myself.

Hang in there buddy, I sit ironically post operation (this morning) watching your video. I just found out that a work mate passed suddenly today. I have a similar viewpoint to you as to death and suffering. I guess I don’t have a ton to offer just that I hear you and well also sometimes it helps to just put it out there 😊

@@TravisMCP I commented midway through the whole video. And I think you're right as someone who's recently divorced and a single father, without my son it is kind of "meh"... He keeps it from being "meh" - but one thing that also helps is appreciating the simple things especially in nature. I have nothing in common, probably, with Malama Life (KZbinr) but check out her videos man. She really is good about getting folks to see how to appreciate the simple basic things in life. By the way, been watching since Front Page Tech mentioned you the first time.

We care brother! I’ve listened to the whole thing, in this day and age it’s hard to eat healthy, specially in the US, it takes more money and more attention, but it’s not impossible, also walking and exercising with all the lazy entertainment things we have is hard, but once you invest in a good running shoes you will be more motivated to go for a run, I’m talking about myself here cause it worked for me. Note: If things get really serious, please take a second and a third doctor’s opinion, you’ll be surprised how a lot of them don’t know what they are talking about.

It's interesting I caught this particular episode this morning. I'm one of the ones whose life flipped completely in 2021 (not from pandemic). Yes, had a chronic illness that eventually forced me to resign from my career in 2021. Didn't even know that was going to be the relatively easy part😂 My health actually became worse within a month of resigning, and I lost everything. I was approved for SSDI last year this time. I was able to regain some independence, afford a simple place for myself, and also have health insurance (Medicare). I'm still shocked at how my life has completely changed in 3 years. Your episode today caught me because, one of my major symptoms has come back heavy the last 2 days, a symptom I originally felt in 2021 but became somewhat dormant. Welp! Hear comes the anxiety and fear of something horrible about to arrive. Then wisdom arrived immediately and said "you've been here before, it didn't destroy you.". So I say to you, you've been through serious stuff before, we're roughly same generation, so go through all the feels, anxiety, and weirdness you've been through stuff before and survived. Best wishes

Yeah the health check is needed regularly I have type 2 had to make major health change and new diet with medication but dropping back down. Just lucky it was not type 1 needing insulin injections as I hate needles hopefully to get ditch the medication. It makes you think how much you take for granted until it affects your health. I hope you Travis can get through this as well and just another challenge to overcome.

It's tough getting older, but it's important to get out and exercise even if it's just walking. Hopefully its only type 2 diabetes which can be reversed with diet and exercise. My late older sister was diagnosed (juvenile) with type 1, but she didn't take care of herself. Stay strong, positive and remember health is wealth. Thank you!

Thanks for being honest! I know it's pretty scary. Wishing you all the best and strength. Side note* As a person who also stays home I have just started getting out of my comfort zone and doing walks (pretty sure you do that to) but like I like listening to music, but sometimes it's hard to concentrate on my work, so when I want to listen to music I partner it with going for a walk, to try to stay healthy (started of 15 min) then 30 -> now do 45. I'm not saying thay your unhealthy I'm just giving saying what I do since I also don't go out much and stay home all day. Again Wishing you the best, and strength ✌️

I recently was diagnosed with being diabetic. It just means you have to watch your carbs. I learned that I don’t need to eat breakfast & eat lunch 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM. I only eat twice a day now and intermittent fasting is really quite healthy. But consult your doctor first. I have lost twenty pounds. I don’t know if you are religious but it helps. Just like other people have said everyone has a journey for you. You can do all thinks in Christ. Change is constant, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, you can do it. I don’t think you realize how many people you help & you are trying to find something for you. Maybe have Tech / Podcast / whatever channel 🙏
