Combo deck videos are always boring since they end the same way. Your videos like the gruul intensity commander are much better Paradox Engine is just bad content. The point is that even if it is only 4 out of 18 decks, every game in those videos is aiming to end/does end exactly the same way. It's like you always said that people would turn off videos when Rogues appeared, Paradox Engine has the same effect on some of us. It was banned in Commander for essentially being boring for the other players and leading to non-deterministic combos. I get why you play it. It's the best and by far the easiest combo to pull of in hell queue since all it needs are spells + mana rocks (and isn't that literally every deck?) but let's not pretend like it is fun to watch. Just my two cents.

I play an Emry deck where I didn't have the commons and uncommons to actually have good cards, so I normally just pop off and then scoop to farewell or something. Its a shit ton of fun though (I say this as a Spike).

One piece of advice I can give you from when I started, is find commanders that aren't in the higher queues, and you can build a decent deck with mostly uncommon and commons, and slowly add pieces to make it better, eventually making it so you can begin to play the higher tiers. I feel like WOTC would make it way more popular of a format if they made it so you could combine say like 5 uncommons to get a gold card that could only be used for HB, it would make it way more accessable for people to get into

Would recommend building a mono-colour deck that's high on instants and sorceries (since there are a bunch of commons and uncommons). A good example is mono-red burn! Otherwise, you can also try a commander like Gix, Yawgmoth's Praetor since you can slam a bunch of common evasive creatures and discard spells and rely on the commander's draw engine. Generally speaking, any mono-colour commander that powers up draft chaff is a good way to go budget wise.

Well before I played with paradox engine (because no wild cards), I thought the deck was good but the more I played with it, the more I lost games I could've won with Engine and especially mirrors because, well, no paradox engine. So you start to realize that if there is 1 Paradox Engine deck, well this is Emry. The deck would be weaker and would have to rely on mana cheat and board value. My version without the engine used big Mythics artifact creatures like wurmcoil engine or meteor golem for top end. So yeah the deck would be viable but weaker. Also, Paradox Engine is banned in Commander but the deck is still viable and pretty good (no top tier ofc, thank god we don't have partners yet), and that is because Emry has acces to other cards that allows her to combo and pop off still with no engine. So yeah, if Engine is banned, I hope they at least gives us so cards from the commander deck to still be able to do some crazy combo.

I feel the same way man, HB is my jam since a while now. But as for you, I don't feel rewarded the same way as I do when I play standard, there is no sense of progression throughout the ladder and rewards at the end of the month, so that is a first issue. Also, I asked the same question as you did on reddit for "y u no ranked HB?" and the answers were pretty logic. First because Wotc doesn't want to make it a competitive format, as they have the same policy for Commander. And so this is why we have like these 3 queues, meaning trashy/experimental queue, normal queue and hell queue where you can enjoy playing your deck vs other decks at the same power level. But if there was a ranked system, well good luck trying to rank up with every Kinnan in the world and their mothers being able to compete with everyone else. Strengh disparity would be too damn high. So I don't have an answer to that problem, but I hope it helps you.

I think doing the ratchet bomb like you said around 49 minutes doesn't work because either you cast bauble before it and don't have a spell to cast after engine, or you bomb first and emry won't be untapped to retrieve the engine. Plan B of getting all your lands and drawing enough to have good odds of finding patchwork +swiftfoot boots probably wins though

teferi who slows the sunset doesn't seem to be in the hell que, so u can probably just take CGB's deck and change it over. I run my own very different version with no counterspells and does pretty well against any non-heavy counterspell decks (Just a personal challenge to not play with a bunch of solve everything counterspells).

Most control-oriented UW commanders are either in hell queue or in semi-hell queue. You could give Dennick, Lavinia, or Vega a try, altho those are weaker and require a lot more build around (which is why they aren't in hell queue). Otherwise if you don't mind branching into other colors but still want to have a roughly control theme, Queza, Atris, Iymrith, Ashiok are some of the options you could try, or in general just any lesser-known commander in the colors you want that offers some kind of card advantage.

You could run like 8-10 copies of Persistent Petitioners and loop mishras bauble with various tutors and copy effects (obviously engine too), and then play a pseudo lantern control deck

I crafted 11 rares and 1 mythic (paradox engine lol) for this deck and after playing it, idk this deck is terrible vs hell queue opponents which is 90% what it plays. You legit just durdle and do nothing 90% of the time... my wins came from opponents just scooping randomly

Find a fun legend or planeswalker and find a strategy or general game plan for them. Jam a bunch of creatures and spells that work with that strategy in with enough ramp and card draw to glue things together. Add some removal and/or sweepers depending on your strategy, and make sure to have a finisher or two. Don’t skimp on lands :p
