he is without a doubt a great fisherman, and people who are great at something tend to make the things they do look easy; BUT, having said that, I think my grandmother could hook 'em up wherever this is. Seriously, to catch a nice smallie by accident when ur lure is dangling in the water?????

Love the content-no fishing video cliches “here we go” and sacking the camera as a cut scene: just simple and phenomenal fish catching with a laid back man that isn’t an obnoxious “bro” type. Keep up the good work-oh, and please weigh a couple of fish here and there so I know what range you are catching then

Ideas for future NDYakAngler vlog titles: “A swarm of bass attacked me” “So many bass, my yak was about to sink” “See I told you I’d catch a fish today” “33 bass in 13 minutes” “River bass attacks a yaker, film at 11” “Smallmouth bass self quarantines in a kayak, go figure” “Bass are a gift to all mankind so please be good to them.” “Smallmouth, big heart” “How to catch lots of bass, calmly” “Another perfect day on the river, you betcha” “Come along for another great bass catching episode” “Ricky only wishes he could catch fish like this” “How I became a fisherman” As you can see ND there is quite a variety in my offerings. Some serious, some silly, some suggestive but all with respect to the best bass yak man out there. Thank you for inspiring me to become a fisherman too. I am hooked on it and excited to excel at fishing. Great channel my man. Well done.

No smallies in my country and I enjoyed this wondeful video…a lot! Watching these beautiful fish fight, their shining sides…and the gorgeous natural scenery. At time 10:00 the clarity of the water allows you to see the smallie attacking the lure! Awesome. Once again a masterpiece of fishing bliss.

I understand that this is an older video, however I want to thank you... that was the first time I can remember actually seeing the fish "shadows" swimming under water (when you were by the little island" and watching one come back for the bait. That was really cool! I've never been much of a fisherman, but your videos make it look really fun. In fact, I'd rather watch you fish than to watch an NBA basketball game and that's saying something. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great videos!

It's people like Matt that bring a little perspective to mid-Atlantic Smallmouth kayak anglers such as myself that pin large numbers of 10-15" fish. We max out at about 20", here... and I become a bit bummed out (in a way) with a 35 fish day that I didn't see a 15"... such as yesterday, where I used the exact same technique that Matt used in this vid, only with a down-sized paddle-tail and smaller jig (you'll miss a pile of fish if you don't go small, here). This vid shows how you can absolutely be doing the right things and pin everything that's going to bite. While the pigs are almost certainly there, they might not be active. And as good as our techniques can become, it's a great reminder that there is always the element of luck involved every time we head out to go after these gorgeous creatures. This vid reinforced to me that I am doing the right things, and that the footballs will come.

Dang you luck SOB.. I remember when I was young and able to withstand the cold.. some of my best fishing experiences where in the cold.. Heck one time in the high lakes of Oregon we had a half a foot of snow in the boat I got the fattest brookie I have ever caught that day.. it was short but very fat.. it was a hard great day.. ah the fish whisperer in action... man some nice eating bass there to.. I like a good bass fry every so often.. But I am more of a trout and salmon eater.. well done son.. I am extremely envious.. you lose a lot when you get old.. But you gain a few non material things so I guess it all balances out.. Be safe out there.. and thanks for the share.. carry on!

Those smallies are gorging themselves to spawn. That’s some of the best fishing right there. Their aggressive, and their plentiful. Come spawn time that’ll slow down to a crawl and then you have to really work to get them off their beds. Basically have to annoy them to the point where they just get pissed she swipe at it. Then after the spawn they’ll be starving and it’s right back to double digit days. Gotta love it
