I spent hours upgrading everything I could, all in the name of more production. The goal is always to hurt the game, so I need as many things as possible moving at all times. We expand till we have about 20,000 conveyor pieces and over 2000 buildings all mining, cutting, painting and pasting things. The fun is always trying to make things more efficient while finding room to squeeze more in. It gets a lot easier after unlocking the blueprints, because once I have a design I like I can just copy paste it where I want it. By the end I've mined well over a million different pieces and am processing things faster than ever. Time to go bigger than ever. Shapez.io gameplay with my commentary as always!

Some advice for future builds: 1. You don't need to combine purple and yellow, yellow + blue or purple + green will both produce white, you can save yourself some combining. 2. You should ideally make a full belt of the blueprint parts, then once you unlock blueprints expand to 4 belts to supply enough for all your copy/pasting needs. 3. The chain extractor is the dark outlined one found by pressing T or the right most type icon when selected. You're not chaining using your regular extractors. 4. The windmill part is extremely rare but the odds of finding it go up the further away you go. The optimal distance appears to be about 2.5 full zoom out of the map away from the base which is about the closest you can spawn pieces with 2 windmill parts regularly(you'll need to cut and stitch together, but it's better than going even further out in the hopes you can find prebuilt windmills since they never become the as common as other parts). 5. The marker for the hub at the top right has an arrow when the hub is off screen pointing to it. It makes finding your way back to the hub easier. 6. You should (post unlocking blueprints) make your factory more modular and produce excess white circles and windmills, they are required for some late game upgrades and are always a pain to make in the quantities you need if you've not planned ahead for needing them. 7. Once you have most of the upgrades unlocked and are working on the final part DO NOT unlock upgrades using it until you hit the 250k mark and unlock free play. I made that mistake and had to wait until I'd produced 400k as a result, 50% faster belts or cutters really doesn't make up for needing to wait so much longer to unlock free play.

No, the game does a decent job of making all variants have a use. Yes, chain extractors are better in most cases, but if a single extractor is enough to supply the machine it is linked to, sometimes it is better just to use the base extractor so you can tell which outputs are going where.

@Arne_666 TV actually, the speed of machines greatly affects the resources needed to power it at full capacity. for example, painters have a noticeable delay that gets backed up on (colorless) shapes even at tier 5, meaning you only need one supply per input on the painter. It is only when you get to the more complicated paints and shape stacking that you have to start managing your shape output, or when you try to harvest onto a single belt before splitting for the mass-painting machine. The game is generally built around production speeds averaging out so that one constant supply is enough to run at full power. Optimization is what gets in the way, as chain extractors are best at consolidating resources to use less belts for transportation.

At around 5:00 the extractor isn't actually faster/chaining because you were using the wrong extractor. You can change them with "T"

also for anyone wondering, the additive (light) primaries are red/green/blue, and the subtractive (paint) primaries are cyan/magenta/yellow. red/yellow/blue are NOT the primaries of paint, it's actually a misconception. have you ever noticed that your purples and greens are dull when mixing with red and blue? that's because red and blue are subtractive secondaries, not primaries. if you still don't believe me, try researching it yourself.

Quick tip: When making white, you only have to mix two colors together to make yellow, cyan or purple, and then after that you only have to mix one other color (red, green or blue).

Found this game just by steam recommending it to me, after that it started popping up in yt and I bought it. I have 12h in the last 2 days and build everything at maximum efficiency and modularity, like I do in Factorio. No belt is empty in my factory, and if it is I'll see what the bottleneck is and fix it. It's just too satisfying to see full belts everywhere you look.

A few tips for next time: 1) To make white you only need red green and blue, so mixing Purple and green makes white or Cyan and Red or Yellow and Blue. You don't need to make an extra color mixing, this will help speed up production. 2) Chain extractors need to be selected via "T" when selecting extractors. 3) If you really wanna break the game you should make some compact easy to copy paste designs for Painting, Mixing and Stacking.

I recently bought this game and found out a few things. If you put 8 of anything (painters, assemblers, paint mixers) on a single conveyor line, you are able to max out that line. As long as you feed everything enough items. Also, the new extractors you need to press t when placing them. There are two types. The regular ones and the stacking ones.

Hey DF, for the extractor you can cycle variants and you have been using the old one not the chaining one, at 13:49 you can see the press t to cycle variants, it’s way quicker than the old one and much easier to use.
