I recommend putting the mutation chance way lower. The game does not say this, but hight mutation chance causes the game to lag a lot.

Idk I’d have to disagree, I’ve had mutations at the recommended amount and the species rarely evolve past a single successful form. Unless I’m just incredibly unlucky

Nah the issue is how the sapling does eating. The Way creatures get energy is by eating it they don't digest the food they just get energy by eating it. Not based on reality at all. However another Evo sim game called the bibbuts fixed this by adding digestion
