this song is about yoongi’s childhood friend in daegu, he was one of yoongi’s first friends but he got into prison, when he got out he suggested doing drugs to yoongi and yoongi thought that this isn’t the same person he became friends with and that he changed, it’s a really sad and personal song :((

@@preachr8630 Unclear why Laree needs to speak so arrogantly like you don't know your stuff. I feel for you as I experience a lot of people who seem to need to talk down to me as well. Heard a Korean review and they indicated Meth was suggested to Yoongi which is why Yoongi became mad and pushed his friend away. They did not use translations to come up with this. Yoongi here seems to wonder if he didn't push his friend away and helped his friend clean up instead, would things have been different as the deep friendship he had prior to his friend going astray meant an awful lot to him.

But no matter what I am glad that suga walked away, because I personally think that people on hard drugs are hopeless. And you need to 100% walk away when they ask you to do it together.

@@baatarkhuu2768 I don't know what happened to the friend but if it was hard drugs, chances are the outcome was not good. Yoongi will drink, and even drink alone as the song before this indicates, but as Daechwita indicates, he has low regard for pill (drug) use. I think some people will never cease being drugees while others actually can be cleaned up. Maybe Yoongi pushed him away because it was so not him and now, older and wiser, wonders if he was too harsh and maybe could have helped is friend clean up his life.

Let's stop taking about others personal life. There are a many more thing that we dont know what between Suga and his friend. And will never know. He actually says they aren't friends anymore but misses him, his old version. You should read the lyrics from doolsetbangtan after the videos to be sure you get the real meaning. A good translation makes a BIG difference, specially with BTS. Trust us. To explain more about the why: even Koreans have to grab dictionaries with some BTS songs. Meanwhile these videos are uploaded quicker than any good translator can share their translations, which means bad quality. Watching a 4k video at 144p kinda thing

This song is so so sad, you just can feel how much this situation affected Yoongi and also if you think of the disparity of their situation now is pretty heartbraking, just thinking about when they were still friends back in Daegu and probably shared similar dreams and talked about it, little they knew that destiny had in store such a different worlds apart for both of them. One is a million dollar worldwide star and the other has such an uncertain future, also the significance of choosing paths in life. Really really sad.

Hi! I'm Korean army(sorry for my bad English skill). I bet you would cry a lot more if you were Korean because there are something more that English lyrics couldn't describe. I see some lyrics error but that is not too big. 4:52 is a part of lyrics of Spring Day, also SUGA's part. It means that the lyrics of Spring Day was written for his friend. This song is my faforite in his mix tape because the lyrics are so touching, Kim Jong Wan's voice is so emotional, and SUGA's sincerity. The friend in this song spent his childhood with SUGA in Daegu, and they encouraged each other when they were 20. But, the friend went to jail because he took drug, and he even suggested it to SUGA. SUGA realized that he was not him anymore. He hate him, but he miss him so much. I hope you would enjoy this song more with my comment:D Thank you!

yknow why i love this song so much? It’s because all of us can relate to this, we all have that one friend that we misses so much, that one particular friend that we want to get back together with but both of you have changed and it is already impossible to get together because so much have changed. So you just end up admiring all the memories that the two of you have made together because you cannot rewind that time and it is so impossible to recreate those memories again since you two can’t connect with each other anymore. And thinking that you two have been friends in the first place just hurts so much and it is so hard to let go but you have to because it is for the better and you don’t have to hold on forever on something that doesn’t exist anymore. Sorry if i typed a really long message, this song just hit too close to home and I understand yoongi’s pain in this one. This song makes my heart broken. I had two really close best friends. First one died in a car crash i belive like 7 years ago. He was young, we were children. Second one went a difrent path. I don’t recognize her anymore. It’s weird missing a person that isn’t dead but do not exist enymore becouse they changed. I can’t listen to this song and not cry. I’m an introvert. And i only had 4 friends in my life to this point. First died, second started bulling me and became a person i despise the most, third changed and we lost contact. And the fourth witch i love and we are still together but she will leave in one year and go to another country. I don’t know what to do. When i think about it i feel like i will loose her. I don’t know if i will be able to make another friend. It’s hard for me to make one. I feel like i repulse people. Just using this to get my feelings out.

I feel really honored that Yoongi shared such a personal story with us and honestly said everything he feels about his friend. This is one of the reasons why I love him and his music/lyrics so much ♥ I hope his friend listens to this song and holds the memories he has with Yoongi in his heart, just like Yoongi does. AHHH im crying and your reaction made me cry even more! 🥺 this song really gets to me because i had a similar situation with my ex best friend. i had a best friend who i’d known since she was 14, unfortunately she started to take a different path from me and got addicted to drugs, etc. i tried really hard to be there for her, even when she got arrested too. i eventually had to cut off our friendship because it was toxic, even though we made all of these plans to grow old together etc. i always wonder if there was anything i could’ve done to stop her too, i know i was the only positive influence she had in her life and now i see she’s only gotten worse. i worry for her and i miss her, it’s only natural to wonder how things would be if we didn’t grow apart or change as people. but as yoongi said, she turned into a monster and i hate who she’s become. it’s really sad when things like this happen but i guess it’s life.

Daegu is Yoongi (And Tae's) hometown. The story basically is not being friends anymore but they miss them and regret not stopping them. The guy he talks about went to prison and he was even visiting him in prison, and when he got out he was still into drugs and was asking Yoongi to try drugs so that was like the last straw for Yoon and so they're not friends anymore. This is honestly one of my faves in the album because of how raw it is.
