I know a lot of you are confused & don't know why I would straighten my hair if I'm transitioning but I don't think that it's that big of a deal if I want to straighten my hair every once in a while it's not like I do it every day. I know y'all are just trying to help but it's my hair and I know what it can handle but thanks for all the advice :)

Gradual cutting is smart!! Looks like your hair grows pretty fast so more length will be there before you know it!! You have really nice, thick hair. Your Mom's clean up cut will make it look even better but you did a really good job!! Smart girl you are!!!

I'm transitioning as well I have been for a year now and I still really like how my hair looks straight 😩but I never straighten it myself so I'm gonna give you a quick tip don't use a flat iron anymore do some research around your area and try to find a Dominican salon and get a wash and set instead of a silk press because when they blow dry your hair it won't damage like if you were flat ironing it so try your best to get a good blowout it honestly with last a good 2 weeks if you rap it every night and take care of it way better than flat ironing girl❤️

I'm transitioning to natural too it's a struggle I feel you, I do protective styles and yes I did cut my hair it's looks so much better. DEEP CONDITIONING helps soooo much. Hot oil treatments help with growth as well as hairfinity hair growth supplements.

Hi! I figured you might want to know this before completely big chopping. Because relaxer is applied on the root/scalp, the follicles of your hair have been exposed to the relaxer. Even after your big chop, the new growth has been in contact with trace amounts of relaxer. this can loosen/slightly damage your hair. The hair will may be a bit undefined and dry, and will likely be slightly weaker. This can be really discouraging, especially after working so hard to grow your hair out! I suggest protective styling and laying off the heat, it really helps. Oh! and one more thing, your relaxed ends weigh your hair down a whole lot, and can mislead you into thinking your hair texture is looser than it actually is. just keep that in mind! Heres a link to a little more about "scab hair." I hope this this helpful! blackhairinformation.com/by-type/natural-hair/transitioning-101-scab-hair-deal/1/

Annaleecia Clarke It's not about race, it's about how well you take care of your hair. I've never had a relaxer, and I've always had long hair, but I did have heat damage before. I just had to stop straightening my hair so much and leave it be. My hair has been pretty healthy and thick ever since, I've most recently big chopped, though.

Just a piece of advice, make sure that when you're straightening you hair that you are not damaging the healthy/non damaged parts....if that makes sense, like make sure there is no heat damage happening to the parts that are healthy because when you're transitioning damage to the already healthy parts can be a really big step back. But I'm not tryna say that you are damaging your hair by straightening it, I'm just saying to be careful.
@MiaMarie7 жыл бұрын
Amara Eva thankssss:)
@Nana-zj7br7 жыл бұрын
i know you think that you can transition and still use heat but sorry you cant. Your hair can still get heat damaged doing it even one every two weeks. Thats what happened to me and now i have straight pieces everywhere. I even thought heat protectant would help. I advise if your are going to transition try heatless styles or put in braids or twists because otherwise you will not be able to properly transition. If you are transition you rock those curls and show everyone how awesome and beautiful your natural hair is. Im not trying to hate just trying to help because ive had experience with heat damage.

If you're transitioning why are you straightening your hair ? That's just gonna make it more damaged than it already is
@Kashoutami7 жыл бұрын
How can you properly transition when you keep putting heat on it 😂 you aren't that serious
@MiaMarie7 жыл бұрын
Etemi W I'm very serious most of my damage is from perms and hair dye I only straighten my hair every 4 or like 6 months if that much. Even when I'm fully natural I'm still gonna straighten it sometimes cause I like it.
@wendyappleseed7 жыл бұрын
Etemi W you should stop straightening your hair for a while. You can't fully transition with all that heat in your hair. Try going a month without heat, then two, then three, then it'll gradually turn to longer times, and you'll see a difference. Trust me
@MiaMarie7 жыл бұрын
wendywu yeah I do that all the time I like to go 4 months sometimes 6
@monappy287 жыл бұрын
yeah, I'm confused about the straightening during your transition. It's likely you won't truly see your true curls because the heat will continue to alter your hair. Are you just transitioning out of the relaxer, but not really trying to wear your hair in its natural state?? I don't understand 💇💁
@MiaMarie7 жыл бұрын
Monique Foley I am transitioning to my natural hair but I sometimes (not all the time) I like to straighten it I've only straightened my hair like 3 times in a year & 4 months
