I'd Never Seen This On A Goose Before.. | Dawn To Dusk Duck Hunt

On my third day in Idaho we setup in the middle of the bay with a big decoy spread with the hope of being able to decoy some of the more wary geese and ducks we'd encountered. The morning flight was slow but things picked up around lunch time and we had a trickle of mallard working our decoys throughout the afternoon. My shooting was lackluster at best but I was still able to put a few greenheads in the boat blind. Scott also shot a goose that had some netting stuck in it's mouth which I had never seen before while waterfowl hunting. We ended up hunting from dawn to dusk and while it was a long day I had a blast spending it with Scott and his pups. I hope you enjoy!

Here in S.E. Michigan, the non migratory geese number in the thousands in the suburbs and golf courses and ponds. They're so brazen, they're not even bothered by cars. They'll hold up traffic as a flock of the damn things slowly stroll across the roads..

Damn, sounds like they need to let y'all hunt some of the gold courses during the resident season up there
@rabidcougar6465
@rabidcougar6465 2 жыл бұрын
@@HokeOutdoors Their numbers are so widespread here in Michigan, there doesn't even have to be a legitimate season anymore. Just shoot the damn things if you can. What you suggest makes sense but the reality is that those courses are surrounded by housing. My solution would be machete' armed ninjas stalking the invasive flocks then chopping their heads off and donating the carcasses to food banks.......but that's just me. LOL! All joking aside, the geese here in S. Michigan, especially S.E. Michigan, are nothing but non-migratory winged rats.. The best alternative I can think of is to treat these damn non migratory winged rats as they are doing in Southern Florida with the growing population of iguanas. Down there the lizards are being hunted with PCP air rifles, with tremendous success if you watch the KZbin videos of such hunts. Open season on these geese with air rifles and those taken either for home consumption or donated to food banks would definitely start to control the growing populations........
