There is not a pop singer alive that wants Angelina to go pop. They would be out of work. The world doesn't need another pop princess anyway. It's not in Angelina's DNA to shake it all over the stage half dressed with backup dancers. She could stand alone under a white spot in a suit of her design with an orchestra and choir behind her and stun an audience into tears. She is a gentle soul and only needs to be herself, Angelina.

After the relatively few songs you’ve heard from Angelina, you understand why we’ve become so addicted to her. A number of your points are spot on- She will always surprise you. She covers an incredible range of musical territory effortlessly. Her vocal toolkit is seemingly bottomless. She doesn’t sing in different genres-she inhabits them: jazz, blues, soul, ballads, r&b, pop, and throw in some c&w and gospel. It’s still hard for me to accept that Angelina gives me my favorite versions of songs in five or six genres. That seems impossible, but it isn’t. Since you mentioned the gospel vibes here, for pure fun watch her go full-on gospel with her live, before a big crowd, version of Something’s Got a Hold on Me. She’s ten, and she just kills it.

You need to hear her yodel when she sings 'Crazy' (ala Patsy Cline!) singing with her band. There are many versions of 'Crazy' she sings but there are two of them when she was 12 which stand out. One features a sax solo and another a guitar solo. And you'll get that yodel! What about this video!? Sitting down, smiling, the mike is backwards and singing like she's from the 40's !!!!! She had so much fun doing this. Btw, the mike being backwards was not a mistake. She knew her voice would be very different for this performance and she wanted to do it with the mike just the way it was.

She actually just turned 12 here if I recall correctly. If you let people listen to this, there is no way anyone will say ‘This is probably a (1) 12 year old girl (2) sitting on a sofa in (3) recorded a living room, oh and it is probably (4) a single take and I think (5) she is holding the microphone the wrong way around’ or even just one of them :-) She puts so much soul in this performance that it is almost impossible not to be sucked in, sway along and be mesmermised. She has indeed a very rich vocal toolbox and can nail about any genre. Yodeling indeed and also Opera and Rap battles would be interesting to watch. Assuming she’d be interested in either. Seeing how you broke in a sweat right from the start, I knew you would break down towards the end when she goes full rasp blast. Watching it with your aunt should be good :-) If she likes Amy Whinehouse, Angelina has done a number of covers. Valerie, Back to Black and Rehab come to mind. The last two with adjusted lyrics because of the grown-up nature of the original songs. Angelina has done some country songs with Nothing breaks like a heart and Joline. And yes, she nailed those as well :-) I hope you will recover fully soon and keep it up and enjoying her work!

It was released when she was 13 and brings new life to the song, You want to get your mind boggled, check out "You Make Me Feel So Young", you will witness how low she can get. Lately she has been using a large ancient studio mike, for effect I guess, but it too is very good. Once I identified a TLM-103, a more expensive mike, but I don't think it was any better than her "old" one. God bless you too!

Interesting to note that pretty much the same background track is used in Chris Stapleton's cover of Tennessee Whiskey (In fact - there is a "mashup" video available of the two artists combined.) I enjoy your reactions & do listen carefully to them. Not sure about other Angels, I actually hope Angelina does not get trapped in the "pop" genre as she is a pure vocal artist and her talent is beyond that genre IMHO. Beth is great, no doubt, one of the best blues singers around. But I bet she wouldn't have done this well at 13, just sitting on a couch at home singing along to a karaoke track.

But we've got to get this straight. Angelina Jordan certainly likes Amy Winehouse songs but her look and her sound are not from Amy winehouse. Amy Winehouse did not invent the style that she had or the hair or any of that it was borrowed from an older time a time that Angelina Jordan also was influenced by and so it's really mostly coincidence that Angelina has a big head of long dark hair and she utilizes some of that vocal fry that Amy Winehouse did not invent. Besides, Angelina is way Beyond when Amy Winehouse ever was.
