Most modpacks add a couple hundred. They can run fine on 3 or 4 gigs as they have been tweaked. Try and make one yourself and your computer will explode with only 4 gigs.

You can get special biomes where there is more pink sheep than usual but they are rarer than pink sheep so you must have got one of them :)

If you right click the dragon when it's dead you can loot it's bones and meat as well as maybe horns (I don't remember everything they drop). You can also right click on the gold that you find at where they spawn which gives you gold nuggets. Also I think they can spawn under ground and those caves have lots of loot like diamonds and emeralds.

So you can collect the scales from the dragon by left or right clicking on it with a empty hand and with those scales you can make armor that is better than diamond. If the cyclops grabs you you should be able to stift click and fall down without him crushing you.

If you want to suffer a lot in Minecraft, try playing the RLCraft Modpack. It's Minecraft but more "realistic" (If you count not being able to punch trees to collect wood and surviving against mobs that spawn in daylight and will one-hit kill you as being realistic).
