I’m now imagining a little trio of a Tooth Fairy Burglar, a Freelance Brownie, and a Lesser Vampire all chilling in the same house of a forgetful mother, a hoarding father, and an accident-prone child. *Brownie, gesturing to the living room chock-full of comodities and decor:* HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO WORK IN THESE CONDITIONS!? *Tooth Fairy, collecting the kid’s knocked out pre-molars:* Lmao imagine working in these conditions. *Vampire, actively biting the father:* Give me a minute, I’m trying to improve your working conditions.

I would be interested in seeing your take on Will-O-Wisps and Omens. @J.J.DoeArt25 күн бұрын
I love this so much! I have a few suggestions for creatures to include. Sirens, but leaning more to their actual myth-accurate bird lady depiction. Familiars, how would those work? Would there be a baseline for all familiars, or are they all very different from each other, some being tiny and others larger? Mermaids, I imagine that all sorts of funky stuff could be done with that. Literal sea-monkeys, anyone? Oh, and the Kraken! What if that wasn't a giant squid, but maybe an amalgamation of various giant sea creatures from myth, such as Leviathan, Jormangandr and the Loch Ness Monster? I live in the UK, so I love the celtic creatures being added, but I have more of those too! Kelpies, the horses that drag people into bodies of water and drowns then. Could be turned into some kind of lake guardian type, keeping humans away to stop their pollution. The Dullahan, known better as the Headless Horseman, also originally a celtic grim reaper type. Maybe a spirit there to guide the souls of those just passed to wherever they go, for those souls have no idea where to got, which could also explain why some souls might linger as ghost of various kinds, they simply haven't been found by a Dullahan yet. One of my favourites is the banshee, those girlies get such a bad wrap, the very definition of shooting the messenger. They come to warn people of the impending loss of a loved one, something they are clearly distressed by too, and this is the thanks they get? And maybe a more popular and goofy one too, as a treat, like the Leprechaun
@Woolydroidart18 күн бұрын

I've watched several of your videos and this one is definitely my favorite so far. Your thought process is fascinating to listen to, and these two designs fit in well with the ecology of the Ethereal Spirits you've designed so far while simultaneously feeling much more approachable and friendly, as you stated. They're JUST cute enough to feel like friends, not foes, while being weird enough to feel alien, mysterious, and intriguing. I get a lot of bat from them, although I know the vampires were more bat-based, but I think that it's also appropriate considering the shared visual language. The Fairy Burglar and Artisan are definitely characters I would want to learn about interact with in a game.

@@Woolydroidart I guess it would depend on wether you want them to be antagonistic spirits or benevolent spirits. Antagonistic ones may be a reaction to civilisation destroying nature to build roads & are born as wandering threats that appear on foggy nights to torment travellers. As a more benevolent form they may be guardians of the land who are born in response to raods. Here they wander this boundary between civilised & wild worlds protecting lost travellers while punishing bandits. Just some ideas :)

Been waiting for this. Another great a d unexpected video! Well done. Also, I would be interested in seeing a spirit which responds to pollution, waste and toxicity. I imagoblgoblin-like creatures which literally spawn from pools of waste and heaps of trash, causing as much nuisance to the locals as their trash does to the area. Additionallygoa special variant of the goblins may actually eat the waste and trash (which has pros and cons). I like how you tie each spirit with an animal(s), seeing as they reflect nature. Perhaps goblins are pig themed. Anyway, I look forward to the next video!

One of the things that I notice about this design that is far from humble. Color. Loud, vibrant, bright colors in a medieval world when it comes to clothing are actually a symbol of wealth, not humility. in society, bright colors are good for putting some children at ease, but are more expensive to produce. Otherwise, I do like the designs and the lore associated with them..

this question is mainly to explain my thought process to my idea but there's something ive been wondering about these spirits. since they appear sometimes with clothes, clear goals, and tools needed to complete whatever goal they have. is the magic system that spawns them a almost divine artificial gaia system created by some god/gods or is it some kind of god itself. or are spirits a manifestation created and designed from the sea of conciseness by some rule of the world. in simple terms is the magic system that manifest sprits a law of this universe much like gravity, energy and force etc. or is the magic system a divine law created or formed by gods or is a kind of god itself. or the magic system could be a law and a divine law at the same time. if spirits are intelligently manifested by some god/gaia system etc, are spirits created from set "blueprints" or are spirits designed and manifested on the spot. if a natural law are spirits manifested into exitance taking inspiration from a possible sea of conciseness of all thinking creatures or are simply manifested with no inspiration but by the law of the universe much like gravity what goes up must come down. either way my brain thought of neat idea that could work with both concepts. if spirit manifest do to unique changes, problems, etc then would it be possible for people to artificially do rituals or magic that purposely manifest spirits. the result could vary depending on the ritual or actions. people could manifest werewolves thru less extreme methods. instead of burning down a forest they could do minor destructions to nature that basically trick the world into manifesting a spirit. or a ritual or action could manifest an entirely unique and VERY specific spirit that would never normally manifest, example brownies manifest to find lost items, and werewolves help balance nature. but the very unique spirt manifested specific for that ritual and ONLY that ritual(basically would never happen naturally in society or in nature) could have truly bizarre goals tailored specifically for the persons unique needs. of course i imagine people experimented by doing truly strange things that resulted in truly strange spirits never to be manifested again. but basically the result is people in your lore have a unique conjuring system that abuses the magic system. u may have already thought of something similar or simply dismissed such an idea do to context i don't have but i figured id share this idea.
@ironfalcon8205Ай бұрын
how about a homunculus? a "false human" or something similar, a creature that would manifest based on a persons unfulfilled desires once they pass like a dead servant who served expensive and lavish food to a royal but never got to taste it?
