When I was 13-15 yo I used to do a lot of push-ups (I even have my own record 450 x knuckle push-ups 🔥). But by the age 18 I stopped training completely and when I started working out again 5-6 years later my chest got big so quickly that I stopped doing bench press for a while for other muscles to catch after that tremendous growth. Now I understand how important muscle memory is. For a long time now for chest and triceps I am only doing weighted dips (triceps version only) and still have better chest development than most guys in a gym.

He sometimes lets the old school mantra of “the only thing is training hard” go a bit to his head.
@ScottHermanFitness4 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much for the comment. And yeah. Greg is right. Most people dont train hard enough. But he explains muscle growth as “micro tears” in the muscle. Which is true. The message here is to always include ALL variations of muscle stimulation. Nuclei overloading is awesome for muscle memory and cardiovascular improvements, and also mind-muscle connection. The muscles need a variety of attack to grow. I love doing these crazy 100-reps-a-day sessions twice to four times per year for a week, and once for a month and see enormous improvement, especially in the subliminal muscles, the little connective muscles that need higher rep stimulus. This overloading technique preps the muscle for growth once you go back to normal progressive training.

20 minutes of beauty, man. I haven't started NO yet but I have been doing fewer sets but in gym almost every day a week. Noticed as an advanced lifter some more growth (no joke) AFTER recomposition...I gained back what I lost man and testosterone is back as well, of course with more calories and more sleep. Heaviest I've been, albeit with some fat addition. Time to hit NO on biceps, but I feel that 100 a day would get in the way of my home-gym workouts since each body part hit needs to count way more per set, as I'm dropping volume on a given day for more days/week working out. Any advice in this regard for still implementing NO? It's somewhat related to one of your Instagram questions. As always, stay fresh brother!
@ScottHermanFitness4 жыл бұрын
If you just do your biceps AFTER your home workout, it won’t impede those sessions. Plus, you don’t have to go super super heavy with your nuclei overload training. So saving biceps for after should be all good!

@@ScottHermanFitness Gotcha. I'll try to tap in still. Plus, if I go heavy on back first, then the added stretch in Biceps will help for the NO training after during the pump..also means I could use lighter weights and push with higher reps to failure. Zero bating actually. I had been asked on so many occasions to do a video about nuclei overload training so I finally decided to do one even though I had no interest in doing it. Was just giving the audience what they wanted. So I watched your video and others to see what people are doing and saying and then made a video. It wasn’t a pic on any one person to make fun of anyone person it was just to give the general audience and understanding of what people are doing for nuclei overload training and why it’s not needed or better at causing muscle growth then science based training. That 3-D guy ended up making a response video where I caught him making a bunch of lies about it which was unfortunate for himAs I then had to make a response video to him because he was using my name and trying to make fun of me the entire time. I don’t actually make my tags that’s way too much work if you think I even know how to add a tag then you are overestimating my text skills I worked 100 hours a week I don’t have time for that. But I don’t mind making this video because you just explaining what you think is the right way which is totally cool the 3-D guy was different because he was essentially trying to bash me and so I had to bury him which I did as anyone that watch the video will know and I’m not gonna bother with any more 3-D alphas videos I mean come on the guy does videos about how the sunlight is going to make you Jacked. I’m also not a fan of blood flow restrictor training but I really don’t wanna have to make a video on this either it’s just simply too boring for me and I have way too many other videos to make so I’m not gonna make a response video I have other videos that I’m working on I don’t have the time trust me I just don’t have the time. We’re cool though I hope people don’t see this as a Greg versus Scott hate each other tight video because I certainly don’t do you Scott as the enemy at all and I still continue to recommend people watch his videos I can’t say the same for 3D alpha sorry not actually sorry 🤷🏻♂️. I’m not actually against what you’re saying however if anyone thinks that my legs are big because I was a triathlete or that I’m Jack because I bike ride all the time or that running a lot is going to make you have big muscles or that farming all day is the secret to future muscle growth then they’re just out to lunch and if anyone thinks that the proper way to train is to do 10 sets of the same body part every day for a month then that simply ridiculous as well.
@ScottHermanFitness4 жыл бұрын
Greg, I will take you at your word as you had told me before you have someone else do your video editing. But if you are "going to give the people what they want" then you should take into consideration that what you say is going to have an impact on them. I would have rather seen you make a video about Nuclei Overload Training talking about the fundamentals of what it is which, for the most part, is right in line with your training ideologies. You're always telling your community to "train harder". Nuclei Overload Training is also training harder, but with an added component of "more rest" in an attempt to detrain your body and try to make it once again more sensitive to muscle damage and mTOR. I think your community would certainly sit and listen if you took the time to present data that information and then offer your opinion on whether or not you think the data is valid. As for your big legs, I don't think Migan was trying to imply that you didn't train your ass off for years in the gym. His intentions were to suggest that due to all the bike riding/training you've been doing your entire life that you may have created more myonuclei in those muscles over the years and because of it when you hit the gym the additional Nuclei resulted in your legs being able to hold more mass which is why your hardcore training got them so big. My goal my video videos of 10 sets of 10 reps for 30 days followed by 10 - 12 days of detraining is to see if someone at my level can try to induce more growth over time this way. But for that to happen, I will need to repeat the 30 day runs multiple times and that will take time for a final result / definitely decision. But sharing my experience is definitely fun and eye opening.

Thank you for making this video! So many people don't understand N.O. training and just say it's bullshit! N.O. training helped my lagging left bicep. Now it's almost the same size and strength as my right bicep! I was able to do that in about 1.5 months. For a long time I was worried that my arms would always be imbalanced! I was so self conscious in the gym being super weak with the left. I'm so happy that my left sleeve dosen't flap in the wind anymore! Thanks to you and Team 3D Alpha! Best fitness info on KZbin!

Do you recommend targeting the different heads throughout the 30 days so for example when doing biceps, day 1 I would to regular dumbbell curls then day 2 do incline dumbbell curls, then day 3 do dumbbell concentration curls then day 4 do dumbbell hammer curls, then rinse and repeat throughout the whole 30 days? Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer Cheers

Isnt detraining the same as strategic deconditoning that is followed by people that are using HST program? But within these 2 weeks of detraining or deconditoning cant you lose muscle mass? Cause am not sure how long you can maintain the muscle size without training. Anyway, Awesome video Scott.

I appreciate the fact you are pushing this topic because I don't see or hear many other people mention it. I'm not versed enough to really make any claims, but based on real world experience this concept seems kind of obvious. Some of the strongest people I know haven't lifted a weight in 10 years since we were all still in college, but they work super strenuous physical jobs. The simple fact that they are constantly pressing their body without even lifting results in an impressive physique. I know this is not an exact parallel but the general idea of it is apparent in every day people. I'm not sure what the fight against this would be other than wanting to stick to their dogma.

Great video Scott, well explained. We all can learn from one another. 🔥 And I am pretty sure I can apply your information to my Calisthenics training. I personally find Greg Doucette’s videos funny and interesting when it comes to things he actually knows (nutrition). However, he now produces way too much content and clearly doesn’t search as much as he pretends from time to time (what happens when you start to become a slave to your viewers and try to satisfy them as much as possible...). Keep the good work bro 🔥

I got a big upper body from home brewing beer for 5 years. Brewed a couple times a week and was picking up heavy kettles with water, wort, grains ect all day. A brew day was an easy 4-5,000 calories of work. On off days I was carrying around kegs and fermenters. I quit brewing 5 years ago and got back to weight training. My whole upper body is now much bigger, especially shoulders. The down part is I don't fit into any of my bespoke suits. I'm trying out NO training & daily full body workouts now and have to say it's really enjoyable. This shit works!

But didn't Greg himself said that the only reason why nuclei overload works is because you're working a lacking body part that doesn't get worked out as much as it should in the first place? You're kind of proving his point
@christianlleras1684 жыл бұрын
No, if a muscle wasn't getting worked out in the first place, then its myonuclei threshold wouldn't be high enough to respond to this type of training.

When I was a teen, before ever having access to any weight equipment, I would do pushups and pullups every damn day. I "didn't know any better" and didn't have equipment or enough knowledge to train anything else. Now that I'm 35, the first 2 things that really pop as soon as I get back on my training are my chest and lats. I actually train my upper back a lot less now because of how much bigger it looks from other parts of my body.

I watch Greg's videos often. But I didn't catch these. From what I saw in your videos he seems to be stuck in an older style of weight training. I personally don't do this type of training unless my mind muscle connection was bad. I haven't done the research but it is what worked for me, which then let me actually lift. I think this type of training has a place and like all training it doesn't need to be done by everyone. Just people with certain goals. But that's just opinion. Glad to see you're still lifting.

ScottHermanFitness because you’re doing a hundred pull-ups a day which is not ideal for the health of the tendons and ligaments in the shoulders. I wouldn’t tell that to a dancer because I don’t think that dancing stresses the joints to the same degree as a hundred pull-ups
