It takes two days for the body to burn up use up all the sugar stores. so the first two days are withdrawals days.

@@healthbeauty2752 I actually felt weak on the second day but after started feeling normal and not hungry. I will say I cut my fast short. The start of the 5th I gave into temptation 😔 . I was having a headache and pink salt in my water helped everytime the 2nd & 3rd day.

Hey Dr. Sarah. Excellent video. I’m trying to do my first 72 hour fast starting today. Thanks for the great tips. I realize this may be anathema to you but I used to get hives and psoriasis when I was vegan. I’ve changed to a low carb diet and hives and psoriasis disappeared. I don’t know if it was toxins in the veggies. Also, I used to get gout flare ups and these are also gone. I’m much older than you so this makes a difference. Good luck with your fasting.

Good report or your fast, however most people confuse when their fast begins. It is not just right after the last meal but when the food is already digested when it starts, that is, when your stomach is empty. That is the beginning of the fast.

If you prepare the body properly fasting is a lot easier. You wont even be hungry especially if you dont drink water. Dont eat crap when you finish either gk very easy on your stomach or suffer really bad times.

I don’t think I could survive a 72 hour fast 😬 I do want to do a 24 or 36 hour fast again someday, or maybe shoot for a 48 hour - in the past I’ve always felt so good after 24 or 36 hour fasts 💪

Yes, prolonged fast aren't for everyone and I definitely recommending listening to your body and doing what feels best for you! I love doing a good 24 hr fast too 😊

Hi Yuliia! Great question. I don't always start a fast in the evening but typically it is my preference (for a prolonged fast) because then I get a jump start on the fasting by going to bed and sleeping those first ~12 hours of the fast. Also then when I break my fast in the evening with something light like bone broth I ease into re-feeding, sleep during the night and have more of a real meal the following morning. Overall, it's just my preference tho!

That could potentially be beneficial, but I think it also depends on the individual themself. If it works for you that's great, but it might not work for everyone with eczema. When I complete a 24 hr fast, my skin always feels clearer and less itchy, but for some people this can potentially trigger itchiness in the skin. And then of course the food/beverages you consume is very important!

I would not take painkillers while on a fast, they can cause GI distress or stomach upset. It would be better to end the fast than take painkillers. Taking electrolytes with sodium, magnesium and potassium (but no added sugar) or adding salt to my water helps me with the headaches! Or I just wait it out since they typically don't last too long for me (not more than 12 hours). And make sure you are drinking enough water per day!
