starting when i was 8-9 i used to make pottery like this with my grandma:) we would go and search the nearby creek beds by her house and collect clay. i’m 19 now, she very sadly had her life taken from her in 2020. i still have many of the pieces we made together and i hope to have them forever. this video reminded me of the great times i had with her. awesome video man ❤

This is exactly my ethos! I appreciate the creativity and work you put in. In the spirit of doing it for free, another idea for something to carve the designs in the clay could have been bamboo skewers, or a little twigs you find on the ground. If you live in an urban setting, you can "pit fire" on a simple charcoal grill using a combination if briquettes and lump charcoal.

I just got into pottery in August of this year (2024)! It's such an enjoyable hobby, I totally recommend you try it! Most cities have a pottery studio you can pay to be a member of that is a lot cheaper than buying things like a wheel and a kiln. Seriously once you start you kind of get an itch. Also.. Watching you wedge hurts me a bit. You should watch some videos on wedging! You can get better and faster results using a different method!

Most cities are built on clay brought in during construction. Any green space in a neighborhood likely has clay in it. Any suburban backyard will have clay under the top soil. You can also find pottery studios that you can pay to fire your pottery in. Just make it at home and bring it to them to finish. Not free but far cheaper

8:51 when scoring you should also use slip to make sure the two pieces fuse! slip is basically liquid clay
@itsConnorCreatesСағат бұрын
Okay awesome thanks for the tip!
@joshuaboehner46526 минут бұрын
With clay that soft it's not necessary to slip and score. The water content is around 30%. When it dries to the leather hard stage it helps, but if the clay is mailable just blend it together by hand.
