I'm stunned your boyfriend asked for the earrings back!!! In my world once a gift is given it belongs to the recipient and it's extremely bad form to ask for it back. Luckily I've always been drawn to the cool colours that suit me. When I was young I envied the girls who wore bright red lipstick but the nearest I could get to it was fuschia and at the time I didn't realise why. I've never owned or worn anything red ,orange or even on the warm side because they make me look ill/ off. It's great to see such a comprehensive demo. 🌷

Oh! As a MUA, I was shocked when you said "This is not my best side" (golden earring, I assume it' s not mirrored so your actual left). Almost 100% of people prefer the face side where their eye + brow is placed higher. (Fun fact: ±80% is left / ±20% is right and it comes from the sphenoid bone' s tilt) but you didn' t. Your brain seems to prioritize and love the bigger eye and more spaceful lid instead. You belong to the majority (80% of "facial lefties") and to the minority (size over obliquity) at the same time😅. Professional deformation at its finest, can' t help. 🧛🏻♀️🖤

This is fascinating, my left brow and eye is higher but I prefer the right side of my face. In fact, if I see the left side of my face in photos, I feel like it doesn't even look like me. I have a beauty mark on my right cheek that I've had since I was 4yrs old and that's just how I picture my face. Without it, it doesn't feel like me, so I prefer that side even though it's my low brow side.
@RachaelTheRed4 ай бұрын
This is so interesting! I tend to favor my right side in photos because I have a cowlick and have to part my hair on that side, so it feels heavy if I pose left side forward. Unfortunately, I always get a better blend of my makeup when I do my left side as opposed to my right so I'm also always putting my "worst" side forward makeup wise. Lol

Definitely a cool summer, even your hair and skin has some grey to it, and summer cool is the most intense out of the summer palette, although you're definitely close to winter. I think everything of the summer cool palette looked amazing on you (except for the really light ones), but only a few softer cool winter colors looked good. The shirt you were wearing at the end looks stunning on you. In case you prefer winter, makeup (blush, lipstick. mascara) helps to increase intensity. Great video by the way!
@LeaveBritneyalone5805 ай бұрын
I'd say you are more of a cool summer over cool winter, but since they are neighbors it doesn't really matter. I found my colors by comparing myself to the celebrities given as an example and then went by textbook definition. There's a mistake at 6:50--cool and warm blue are switched in the text. Teal/turquoise is considered a warm blue (with yellow in it). That purplish/royal blue is considered cool in color analysis.

She also said this at 8:24. She seems to be pretty convinced on the matter. But it seems completely wrong based on everything else she’s said. I’m confused.

Maybe because red is considered warmer than yellow, and the purplish blue has more red in it, while the turquoise has more yellow. But the turquoise is closest to the warm side of the spectrum, and all the other colors operate on the principle that the closer it is to the warm side, the warmer the color.

I am totally starting to get why people do this. It's a great reference point. And you can make and break these rules as you please, I'm sure. I agree with you on the brighter colors in the intensity test. While my eyes are drawn to the brighter colors, they immediately go to the rest of your face, and everything is very vibrant and fun to look at. Whereas the dull color I go to your face because there is nowhere else to go. And even then it's not asking me to stay.

One of the best colour analysis videos I've seen so far! You were able to explain how undertone doesn't change, while intensity/contrast does. This is especially relevant for people who have gone grey. Similarly, I appreciated that you showed that the hair needs to be covered for undertone, but should be out for intensity/contrast.

And a separate thank you for your efforts to highlight a corresponding wheel section simultaniously when talking/showing each color. That made a huge difference!

This is THE BEST color analysis video I’ve seen. I now have a better understanding of color theory of which I was starting to understand before this video but it wasn’t clicking for me. I also appreciate that you are giving us a detailed explanation of how to find our own season. Thank you for sharing 🤍🦋

During all your winter evaluation I was feeling like you were lacking some softer colors and then you got into summer cool and it was crystal clear for me that you were a WINTER-cool/summer-cool. Great video

This is all fascinating. They all had an impact, but I really cannot get over the comparison of the two blush pinks. When you lifted the warm pink and revealed the cool pink you POPPED like you got so vibrant and harmonious. This is an awesome demonstration, really well done!

I am a Winter Bright, we have silmilar coloring but I have lighter skin, darker lips and eyebrows. So, more contrast. I love orange and lime green so your explanation about bright spring really clarified that for me. I have a lime green bag I use a lot, it is a nice pop of color. I loved your overview of color and all the paint cards, the differences in tones are so subtle, your examples were very enlightening!

I’m so glad to hear this helped explain why you can steal some of those bright, warmer colors! I was really hoping this video would be clear enough that it could be applied to any season, so this is great to hear!

I completely agree with your analysis. I believe I have a pretty good handle on “color theory” from working in cosmetology for a couple of decades but I learned some new things (as far as intensity/saturation) Your video is a very nice refresher for those who have a working knowledge of color theory & is a fantastic crash course for those with little to no experience. I think the word you were looking for was “sallow” in the beginning when you comparing warm and cool. The warm undertones made you look sallow and a little jaundiced vs. the cool that gave you that fresh, alive and sparkle! I subbed! Excellent video/info ❤

I think OP is a Summer. IMO ppl put too much emphasis on hair colour as a decider of sub-season when your natural hair colour can be relative (eg. you think it's super dark because it's darker than a light/medium, but it's not actually that dark compared to black) and can be the odd feature out that is dissonant with the rest of you and wrong for your season. Maybe the camera setting is too desaturated creating this impression, but look at OP's muted eye colour, soft eyebrows, grey pigments in the skin and lips. I feel like she would have to paint on some serious brows / black mascara / bold lip & blush to pass as a bright winter, which shouldn't be the case if it's the right season. Inverse of this would be like if someone with electric blue eyes, naturally pigmented lips, dewy skin and strong eyebrows was like 'so I must be a soft because I have mousy brown hair.' If every feature but one is pointing in the same direction, you should follow that and ignore the odd one out imo. When OP put their down and started talking about winters, I thought 'but if you got a buzzcut, your basis for believing that would vanish; that shouldn't be possible, since season comes from underlying skin pigments, which don't change.'

I've always skipped colour analysis videos because I didn't think I'd really "get it" but I clicked on yours as soon as I saw it cause I knew you'd be the best bet to explain it in a way that makes sense. This is such an incredibly well crafted video, and it's made me really want to try colour analysis for myself! I never thought that would happen! Thanks so much for sharing

I love this video and watching along as you determined your best colors with color swatches. Your presentation of this and how you used the paint chips for color draping was brilliant. I also love the idea of hole punching your best colors onto a keyring and taking the little punch out circles and putting them onto it. Very clever!

I think summer cool looks better for you. It brightens up your complexion. I feel like winter cool drags you down a little bit. I have heard before that it is better to have someone else do your analysis bc you will always be biased. You may gravitate toward a certain color but color analysis should be based on what it does to your skin and not based on how much you like the color. Excellent video. Thanks so much.

We tend to choose the our best colors for home furnishings and for the things we feel best and most confident in. A side note from a tanned, cool leaning olive whose primary is dark, followed by soft, and then cool, so value, intensity, then temperature. Sometimes you have to eliminate in a different order when someone isn’t clearly warm or cool. It is also a strike against deep winter for you since you are very clearly cool.

To me you are definitely a cool winter. 51 years ago I bought a book called Color Me Beautiful by Carole Jackson who described colors more yellow undertones for warm seasons or blue undertones for cool seasons. She also sold a season swatch packet so I could carry it with me in my purse which helped with shopping and picking out the exact color and shade. 😊

Thanks a lot. You did it very great ❤ I think the more intense was the best. I’m a cool summer and those more intense winter colors are to outstanding. But I can rock some colors of the cool winter too.
@pouchika56725 ай бұрын
Before beginning the analysis, I initially thought you matched the "summer" profile. However, during the analysis (before the sub-season), I started to lean towards "summer cool." I believe you have a medium level of intensity. This was a very good video overall. As a bright winter, people's reactions towards the vibrant colours always amuse me.I don't see many examples of people in bright palettes. Unfortunately, when I do see them, they are usually Spring types or celebrities (so unverified).

when you got to saying you didn't look good in those gold earrings and were fine with giving them back, that was the moment I knew this wouldn't be a video for me. I think those earrings looked so nice on you! This whole cold/warm everything-has-to-fit-me-perfectly mindset is so limiting imo... I even liked it when you had the red swatch over you, all you need is some warm lipstick and you'd still look harmonious!

This is so fascinating! I'm a creative person too so i know about color context (how - especially subtle - colours change in perceptive depending what they're adjacent to). And watching your skin color in context was super interesting! Also to see how some of the colors that look so gooood for me, make you look dull and, as you put it, sickly. Very very cool (hah 😂). I watching you go I would have loved to whip out individual cards and say "look, this one is YOUR variation of this color!" Ugh.. Just so fascinating! 😍✨

@tiptopsalut2 ай бұрын
I have commented on three youtube videos total iirc, but I had to write this one out of sheer gratitude. For the first time ever I understand my season. After going and getting all these chips I realized that I'm not actually a deep autumn, I'm a deep winter who can borrow liberally from deep autumn. I didn't know that some subcategories could borrow from the side of the spectrum that had a different undertone. With olive skin, brown eyes, and deep brown hair that goes auburn in the sun, I was convinced I leaned warm. I was still confused when I did the initial warm v cool breakdown. The cream whites lost hard to the bright whites, but otherwise I felt like both sets of colors worked fine when they were dark, and awful in pastel or midtones. I soldiered on to the deep palettes for autumn and winter because regardless of tone, it was clear that highly saturated dark colors worked best. I finally understand that while my overall skin tone is neutral and i CAN wear many warm tones, my face leans heavily into cool because of my cool pink cheeks and lips. The deep winter colors worked universally- while the deep autumn ones sometimes washed me out or turned me sallow. It also explained a recent change- I've never been much of a foundation wearer, but finally found one that works for my neutral skin instead of just turning me a different color (salt new york sneaky balm). When I wear it I can suddenly pull off brick red/brown lip colors and rusty/brown blushes which always just looked weird before. I think I finally get what works and why- and instead of feeling like my colors are split- autumn vs. winter, cool vs. warm, I can start thinking about these colors more coherently. It took HOURS to find and sort all these chips, but this whole exercise finally clarified a color system I've never been able to consistently make work for me and I'm excited to have clarity around the whys and hows of it, and to have a real, personal palette to work from.
