@Josh Arrubla Even after such a long breakdown, it still didn't prove that Caesar wasnt Wise and an experienced being. He was haunted by PTSD and the freaking death of his wife and son for crying out loud. We glorify him because we can feel for him yes, but not just because he's a revolutionary or some shit, its because he is just as tragic as the audience feels. We are treated so poorly, seen as lesser than, talked down upon by those who rule, and when we get our way, even more tragedy is forced upon is until enough is enough. He took a route that was suicidal and got his apes captured, but it does not invalidate all of his hardships and the amazing arc that lead him to getting his apes to a safer home, and to a civilized state. And he never looked down on humans once in this franchise. He showed them nothing but mercy and empathy and they spit in his face. As many marginalized audience members can certainly relate too.

I loved Caesar's evolution throughout the course of these movies: Rise - we see a young, docile ape. He soon turns into a young revolutionary, with a grand dream of liberation and freedom for him and his species. He is a great leader, but has much to learn Dawn - we see a skilled warrior, capable of fighting for his people and making tough decisions. He has matured, but is still young and somewhat inexperienced War - we see an old, battle hardened and wore down ape. He has been around the block and is very wise, though he has become more aggressive with his old age and is almost at his breaking point. He has proven himself to be a capable leader in every sense of the word
@IamCanadian33332 жыл бұрын
Also, he may seem brutal, but he does have a compassionate side. He never intended to start a war with humanity, but sadly, was sucked into it, thanks to Koba's actions. But even after all that, he still maintains his "humanity," sparing these humans, not wanting to become executioners (which sadly, eventually costs him his life, as well as the lives of his wife and one of his sons).

Caesar went from inheriting his mother's cognitive skills, to be raised by humans (see their good side), to be imprisoned by humans (see their bad side), to a freedom fighter, to a king, to a peacekeeper, to a warrior. He also went from shouting "NO!" to being fluent in English, he made many of his apes as smart as he was and their knowledge was passed down for generations. The name "Caesar" is feared by humans but looked upon as a saint by apes. Caesar truly has the epitome arc of the leaders and he is a goddamn APE!
@danielbeaujean8114 Жыл бұрын

@LordWyatt Жыл бұрын
I see many similarities between Caesar and Moses. The comparison has been mentioned so often it’s almost cliché but it’s literally beat by beat: Caesar was born into a world where humans were above apes. He was raised by good humans but was feared by most and eventually was forced into a lower position than had he been born among apes. He leads his people away and they are pursued and attacked from the beginning, with fewer and fewer good people to join them or simply not fear them. After a final clash between those with all the power and those without it (yet a higher Authority watches over them) the enemies are completely obliterated and Caesar is finally free to lead his people to the Promised Land (hypothetically a place their ancestors may have originated from and ironically now return to build a new life). Finally after leading his people to their final destination and seeing the Land for himself and their potential he finally succumbs to his wounds and dies at peace.
@kenxyooj26842 жыл бұрын
I love those moments where Matt Reeves just take his time showing how the protagonist acts/moves/emotes before letting them speak. That is an art form of its own because you can show how a character is feeling without or before them speaking if done right. And when they do speak, majority of it stays relevant to the story and characters. Matt Reeves is a very good “show, don’t tell” type of director/storyteller.

The actor who plays the red gorilla also played the police who killed the other gorilla during that helicopter scene. He hated Caesar so much he got reincarnated as a gorilla to get another chance to kill him

Who hated it? It was universally praised, especially Caesar's character.

"They are the message Maurice" is the key that unlocks this scene. "Leave us the woods and the killing can stop" and the killings of "The Colonel" not yet done.

An interesting bit of info: there used to be around 6 different species of humans. Studies suggests we outsurvived some species (due to our planning capabilities) and killed off others.
