In their conversation longtime friends Zsolt Bognar and cellist and Senior Ted Fellow Joshua Roman revisit the heady mix of early bravado, vulnerability, and the path to consistency and success. In his disarmingly candid way Joshua describes how his personal challenge to master the forty "Etudes" by David Popper accidentally turned into a social media phenomenon, culminating in “The 2019 Popper Challenge,” a safe space for a huge cello community to share their most vulnerable moments of practicing.
For the visually impaired:
Title card 1: Joshua Roman has earned an international reputation for his wide-ranging repertoire, a commitment to communicating the essence of music in visionary ways, artistic leadership and versatility.

Wonderfully honest, vulnerable, sensitive, and proud to show this. Admirable and mature with the issue of legacy which is and should be huge for all humans.

So many reflective echoes (vulnerability, for example, at the time when the mainstream dictum is all about strengths and force), or music as a basic need of humanity... Joshua’s open and sincere smile is so winning, but would have been empty without his perceptive and thoughtful refelections (and the challenges he’s meeting). Please carry on, Zsolt and the Living the Classical Life team!

I have a question: Does Mr. Roman love Pau Casal's work (cello suites of Bach)?. Addenda: Pau Casals is a hero in my country(Catalonia)! Thanks!!
