FYI he started in Japan because there wasn't a world tour for the Victory tour and so he started off overseas with a show very similar to Victory and switched it up when he toured in the US.

kind of ironic they show him singing "wanna be starting somethin" in his first bad tour leg and then show his 1977 interview when he actually started working on wanna be starting something and did a demo already around that time :D

Thing is, the press/media always had something to fixate on with MJ. Before 1990 it was always the plastic surgery/oxygen chamber or the fact he collected antiques or strange things. Then after 1990 is more to do with the children, then it was something else. It all boiled down to envy.

I remember this interview like it was yesterday! I keep watching it to remind myself of not only the Bad era and Michael himself but the way Molly respected Michael. He was one of the only true interviewers Michael could trust after many years of being interviewed by Molly starting with The Wiz in 1977. Molly also mentioned the Australian tour, which was to follow after the Japanese tour. I loved the entire interview, I have no favourite part, just a recollection of wonderful times, and that I knew I was going to see him perform for the first time.

That was a great reaction Mjfangirl! I always love to watch this every so often. By the way, just something I didn’t know till someone compared this, but the footage you see from 2:29 to 3:29 is apparently the same night as the one Tokyo concert in 1987. There’s full footage of it in not so great quality, and part of the intro to Wanna Be Startin Somethin is the same. Like comparing MJ’s head movement when he looks to his right, then to his left, it’s the same as the footage we have for Tokyo 1987. Just felt like mentioning that, feel free to look that up and compare the footage to this little bit of footage from this, it matches well. Anyways, I hope everyone has a good rest of their day!

15:04 fun fact: michael not only recorded "We are the world" but he recorded a song called "scared of the moon" (was supposed to be peformed in "captain eo") and "groove of midnight"(demo for bad he later let seidiah garret who wrote "man in the mirror" use it on her 1988 album which he sang background on) the same night hence quincy's "leave you egos at the door" comment to the other singers
