I still love the Sing Off version where you know that the judges know that Tim is going to drop a bass bomb on them at the end. But they're still shocked into standing up from their chairs in surprise! 🤣

My description of Chance’s vocals in this is “warm and seductive “. His vocals provide a whole other feel to this song. His vocals, Adam’s more intricate percussion, and the changes in the background vocals make this my favorite of the 3 renditions.

By reacting to both versions, we can hear the maturity of their voices. As far as finding a new Tenor 1, some of the requirements are: Sing like an angel; Be a goofball; and Be about 6'2" - 6'4" in height! 😂😂😂 (About 1.9 m.)

Since their "Ring of Fire" always did have a reggae beat, I think this is reggae video! The colours & themes strike me that way. Of course the singing, harmonies & crazy beatboxing are terrific - they always are! Great reaction! To really see the effect of Tim's bass, you need to watch an old, live video "Tim Foust's Vibrations".

Thanks for the double feature. This song has always been a fan favorite. What a great remake of "Ring Of Fire". It was first done on the "Sing Off" in 2013 & then later with Avi Kaplan. The visuals reminds me of "Fishin' In The Dark"/"Boondocks" (you may want to check that one out). Chance is a nice addition to this version. Of course love Tim's lows & Adam's awesome vocal percussion. I think he sounds even better on this one.

Alot of people aren't understanding that they are leaning into the Caribbean/Reggae style that they had in the song from the very beginning. Even Jewel, from The Sing Off, called it "Country Reggae". So hence the bright colors, upbeat tempo, etc. There's even one part where they used the colors of the Jamaican flag. I think alot of people are not liking it, at least partially, because they think it's so far left field. But it's really not as much as they think. Maybe it's just the visuals that are just confusing, and I get that. And I don't particularly care for the vhs editing software style myself, probably because I lived through that era. Lol! But I still enjoyed it. Also, I'm pretty sure Tim used a growl in the previous versions and his chest voice in this version. You can hear that all his low bass notes from the songs on this album have the same quality. But I still think they are being overly enhanced. Tim doesn't need any enhancements. Lol! Or at least don't make it so obvious. Anywho, thanks for the reaction video DJ ❤😉🎵

Finding a high tenor that fits in with the other members will take some thought. There are two possibilities that I'd be curious to see audition. They've both done guest work with Voiceplay. Omar Cardona and Anthony Gargiula are both able to go high and are very flexible with their voices. I'll be seething with curiosity until Home Free introduces us to whoever gets picked as the new guy. Perhaps it will be a surprise talent that none of the Home Fries has ever heard before.

Also a neat nod to Johnny Cash, is the use of black clothing. I got a kick out of the 'Man in Black' trope. Not as fond of the bright colors version. It will take getting used to it. I think I would have had less trouble if they had kept to 'fire' like brights - reds, oranges, golds.
@julierodda58263 ай бұрын
The sing off version is 1/2 step lower than the version with Avi K. So no, technically the Kaplan version with fire has harmonies that reach a higher peak, and Tim's lowest note is 1/2 step higher,, producing a slightly more resonating quality that our ears can discern. .

If Tim does Austin and Chance does Tim maybe Chris would do Chance
@miamidolphinsfan9 ай бұрын
I thought about this scenario, that when Austin does finally cut back, Chris could maybe fill in for the Christmas shows & the they get their new voice after the 1st of the year. I also think it's not out of the realm of possibility that they get a female voice, like Makena Hartlin or Brooke Eden to be the permanent new voice...open them up to so much more material...Dolly covers, early Taylor Swift stuff, etc.
@lindaengbers27769 ай бұрын
I hope the scenario you suggested for the group doesn't happen. Tim needs to stay in the bass world, It's still his best work. I was at a Home Free concert where Austin was sick, they sang without him, and Tim took a lot of his parts. It definitely was not the same...I was a little disappointed.
