I got lost exactly the same as you on that route. The GPS said go left when the sign told me to go through the Lane Cove Tunnel. Possibly since on the satellite map the Lane Cove Tunnel goes exactly the same way as the old road for a bit, only it's directly underneath the other road.

Shane - entertaining video (places I often drive in Sydney). Those little SatNav devices (TomTom & NavMan) are good to a point. However they let us down for the vital last 75 metres before a turn from a multi lane roads! (but seem to gloat when we get it wrong!). This is the reason we see so many drivers suddenly jump from the far right lane to leave an expressway on the left across two lanes and the white painted no-man's land at expressway exits!

Loved the ride especially the music coming through the tunnels. Reminds me of when I got LOST leaving Sydney one time moving back home away from the bloody traffic and chaos. You making music through the tunnel reminded me of when i drove my old 79 XD through the harbour tunnel many moons ago. Stay safe Shane

Thank fuck to the invention of the truck gps. When I first started, I'd be sent to a new suburb a couple of times a week and the old street directory lead me to all the low bridges and tight narrow streets with low branches and car's parked up to every corner. 😄👍🍻 29:18

Bro, you got beached as! The Australian Truckies Atlas is a good go to , to study your route, then write out a trip route you can reference as you're driving...GPS as a last resort or you could end up in the carpark of parliament house...... PS !!!! Is there a chip you can get yet that shows you truck/heavy vehicle routes??

More than one tunnel. Sydney below the surface is Swiss cheese. From the top, North Connex tunnel, Epping tunnel, Lane Cove tunnel, Sydney Harbour tunnel, Cahill Expressway tunnel, Domain tunnel, Eastern Distributor tunnel, Cross City Tunnel, South Dowling St tunnels, Airport (General Holmes Drive) tunnel, Airport Gateway tunnel, M6 tunnels (under construction), M5 tunnel, M8 tunnel, West Connex tunnels and interchange, West Harbour Tunnel (under construction), Northern Beaches tunnel (postponed indefinitely at present).

Shane, apart from those 2 missed turnoffs, you did well. For some reason my shouting directions at the screen didn’t seem to help you. Sorry. As a recently retired charter and school coach driver (lots of the company’s coaches seen in your video coming the other way through Turramurra, having just started their school runs), your feelings as expressed about poor signage resonated with me. We had to ensure that the night before going to any new destination or following any new route, thorough research was undertaken with Mr Google to get a picture in mind as to where we should be going. It didn’t always stack up with reality the next day however, particularly when there was a discrepancy between Google Maps, the roadside signs and what I could see (or not see) with my own eyes. Lost!
