I knew this years ago. Brought it up in the forums. Seems like an exploit that by simply cycling the scanner you can keep generating new orange spots. On the other hand, it is an awesome way to generate spacefly eggs/unstable crystals/lodestones.

Doesn't work indefinitely (anymore?), the asteroid will be completely empty pretty quickly with this.

JK Ninja did a video on this early on when he started his channel. It's on his video regarding building space suit bombs. There wasn't any implication from him that it's an exploit. It just is what it is. Still works in the latest build too. Although sometimes you need to "refresh" the scan a couple of times for them to populate the area on the same as your ship.

Always something new to learn. I knew about the little orange spots but not about them resetting when you turn scanning mode on/off. Great! Now it's time for me to build a couple trade stations just packed with raw resources so hopefully a couple of my stations stop sending their miners to Grand Exchange. It's loaded with pirates and I haven't dealt with it

I wish there were more different types of rocks to mine, like Eve Online style where each ship would use different types of quantities of minerals. That would make securing specific spots in the universe even more valuable and interesting.

so I am sitting here in my L miner doing the minigame but have to teleport back and forth to have the miner pick up the bits I shoot off, can I make the AI pick it up? And what does the little icons for drones mean that change when I click on them in the L miner, you have any video on that? Thanks for sharing.

I immediatly started the game with building mining and trading fleets and stations until i was to the point were i have a mining and factory system that has nothing to buy somewhere else and can pump out hundreds of ships with ease. And thats how i destroyed the fun parts of the game for me :) Because now i can just say, hey lets build 15 Asgards and 50 raptors and just send them out to wipe out a sector.

Yep, you can bullrush this game and take the fun part out. It's really better to either limit yourself or go with mods that simply don'r allow you to dominate that much.

@@CaptainCollins I allways do this in games. I build up until i am godlike before really start playing the game. And then when i start it's just boring because i am so uber that any missions are just pointless. But i will of course build something like a crazy fleet of 200 asgarts with another 1000 of support ships and wipe out the galaxy just to honor my work. And in a years or so i may start over and really play the game.

I actually found this out within 40 or so hours of playing, and you can use normal weapons to mine out those orange areas too! I just never really did mining personally, too much to do, better avenues to get money, just let my AI pilots do the mining.

It was tough enough to find one that shows YOU how to personally mine ore... but I cannot find one that shows how to 'personally do' Gas that isn't a Large Drone Rig. What about Mid ships? I found this feature in the 2nd hour playing for the 1st time X4 (with the launch of Vendetta DLC). I like mining in Elite Dangerous and it was one of the first things I did in X4 to try mining manually.

Interesting. The amount of chunks it broke off was 4times the amount it changed on the asteroid. 1924 Si first, 1428 was broken off and landed the asteroid at 1567 Si. That's 357 Si less in the asteroid and yet 1428 in the shard. Ratio: 1:4 1567 Si first, 804 was broken off and landed the asteroid at 1366 Si. That's 201 Si less in the asteroid and yet 804 in the shard. Ratio: 1:4 again.

Get EMP mines and the blueprints to build a silicon wafer fabrication. You need: dock, storage, wafer fabrication. That's it

if you build your auto mining fleet right you can get more than this within about half an hr without needing to do it your self for example i have a mining fleet made up of 15 XL ships with only defense turrets and backup mining turrets and 20m miners mining while the XL drones collect it all then i also have a few s class miners to collect any left over as well as an extra 2 XL ships with no mining gear and only used as Collectors i was making around 900mil per half an hr in my main mining area and due to me owning the sector and having no allowed trade with other factions on my stations i was making a profit with each trade run from my main cargo station in the system to the nearest npc station
