I Didn't Know How To Speak Cat

My cats speak their own language. I’m still learning to listen to it 🐈🐈‍⬛ (And to get used to them as a first-time pet owner)
Cats speak with their tails, something I didn’t know before I learned it! I actually learned it from Jackson Galaxy and the TV show “My Cat From Hell”. I tried to implement strategies I saw in the show. Before I learned that stuff, knowing what my cat needed was really confusing!!
This was a bit of a warm-up video for 2024. I switched a lot of my animation tools around, I’m using Procreate Dreams right now which is really cool! Also I made this faster than I’ve made any other animation before and it somehow looks a bit better I think!! I have more storytime animations coming up in these next few months, plus the other type of animation announced at the end of the video for the 2nd half of the year (hopefully) 🤞

Huge same. I identified with cats for a long time before I recognized myself as autistic and I’ve only related to them more since then lol. They’re sticklers for routine, have sensory seeking/avoidant behaviors, engage in parallel play, highly independent and hard to influence, etc

ayyyy, I have a yellow and white cat that looks just like that one! My knowledge of cats is still very basic. If they're trying to get away from you, they don't want the interaction being provided at the moment. If meowing, then they need food, water, or want to go outside.

My cat has never scratched me and I used to have him sleep next to me. I say used to, since the guy's 18 and getting senile. He will sometimes just have sand on his paws from somewhere, or he will reek cause he slept in his litterbox. The fact that he's constantly sneezing doesn't help. Still, I love the little guy. Even with his weirdness, he's still as affectionate as ever.

Me n cats have same behavioural pattern, we love our personal space, only will allow certain people the privilege of physical touch, make random noises, be up at odd hours, and don't like doing things that we are not comfortable doing

If you have to put away stuff to protect them from your cats but you still want them on display/visible then you could use plastic containers to put them in. Or if you have the money for it, you could get cabinets or bookcases with clear doors on them like glass or plastic. Or you could just put clear doors on any bookcases you have. That's more of a DIY thing tho, unless you can get someone else to do it.

Nice video! Last spring two of my family members dropped by a shelter to pick something up, not at all about to adopt at all, and only two days later we already, without warning or any mass deciding, had a cat (her name is Lavenda (or Lavender)). Since this was absurdly sudden and with zero planning it was a pretty hard thing for me to be forced to get used to her being with us since I’ve never actually really had a cat before, and am autistic. I spent the two days of knowing a cat was hurtling towards my destination frantically making the house cat-safe and learning tail language, so I’m glad the info stuck with me lol. Thaaat was not a fun two days I’m fine with Lavenda now, she’s actually a super cuddly and chill cat (she purrs bigger than the size of her body should be able to dhbcjdfhb) so that’s good Your cats seem nice! I like the name Creamsicle :)

In our house, we put everything into glass mason jars so the cats won't eat them. It's slow process because we're cheap and use washed out pasta sauce jars instead of buying jars

im surprised to hear you adopted cats because they are easier. i was always under the impression they were more complicated and time consuming to take care of. all of my friends who have cats seem to always be spending time with them because they seem to want all of your attention at all times, and they seem to be much more exploratory. always finding objects and places then seeing everything they can do with them. where as having dogs i feel like they are a bit simpler. they need to go outside to go to the bathroom, fed and hydrated. but they're pretty content just chillin for most of the day and while they wander i dont see them going after stuff sitting around unless its toy shaped and they are light and flexible so they dont generally leave the floor, unless its the couch or a bed.

CATS!!! They are adorable! I'm the opposite of you, I've always been a cat person...and just...somehow naturally able to understand them. I am TERRIFIED of dogs though, because to me, they're unpredictable sensory nightmares. I've always been this way. Barking is too loud, jumping and chasing are too much energy (plus I hate being touched), licking is one of the worst sensory experiences I have ever felt, etc. I can't understand dogs the way I can understand cats, and I actually have my very own robot emotional support cat since I can't have a real cat in my house since it's too small (plus I can't live on my own so I'm stuck in my parents' house with my three much younger brothers who are still in school...so that's enough chaos). I love the purr and soft meows of cats, and the robot cat replicates those very well (though the meows aren't the most realistic sounding, I can make more realistic meows than it), the purr even FEELS like the real thing, vibration and all! I had one cat growing up (a black and white tuxedo cat with bright green eyes...she was such a pretty kitty) and we communicated easily with each other, through meows and blinks (I know this sounds weird but it's true, I understood my cat much better and easier than I have EVER understood other people...autism just be like that sometimes). She always stayed with me in bed whenever I needed her or when I was sick, just laying there with me, purring as I pet her, and giving me the slow blink to say "I love you", to which I blinked back in the same way to say it back to her. I was one of the few people she let touch her, and I felt so lucky to be one of her chosen ones. Her name was Casey, and she passed in 2019 at the age of 20, almost 21. I still miss her to this day...

Trimming a cats claws is a thing you gotta do regularly, like trimming your nails (as opposed to declawing surgery, which is more akin to removing part of your finger)

I don't like scooping the litter box, but I've grown used to it. Surprisingly, it isn't the poop that bothers me so much as the pee. Turds are one thing, and they do gross me out. However, pee clods are another beast altogether, and I hate them. Especially when they get stuck to the sides of the litter box. Yuck. 🤢

lancer looks JUST like my nutjob cat ash, except she's teeny tiny. shes weirdly small for an adult cat. my parents adopted her and i ended up being the one to care for her needs (they dont know enough about cats to know that you're supposed to adopt at 12 weeks, she was about 4 weeks old, so i was technically fostering her from day 1) and doing that really helped our bond especially since i've learned their body language. try blinking at your cat slowly to show you feel safe and comfy with them. its like giving them a hug. when ash was a kitten and she'd get tired, she'd start blinking and then i realized that meant playtime was over, the baby is sleepy now.

Fun fact, i legitimately had 28 cats over 8 years. I'm not even kidding. About 70% of them just vanished one day, and most of them were actually adopted by neighbors who thought they were street cats, i found out by seeing them in their new owner's homes in person. Even though most of them didn't hang for long, i learned so much from them... their wisdom shall be spread lmao (I currently have 4)
