The dialogue after Claude bites it is a bug actually. This dialogue is supposed to trigger when Edelgard has lost at least half her HP and survives the combat round. Here the condition is fulfilled but since Claude is dead his lines are skipped ("Edelgard, give up ! We don't want to kill you !") causing Edelgard to seemingly talk to thin air before you're forced to rewind

The smartest decision of this game is that they didn't put Lysithea on the Black Egales. She's just a younger Edelgard, even in Crimson Flower she is willing to join Edelgard. But not putting her on that route in the first place, showing if Edelgard is willing to kill someone who went through the same pain she did that started this war. Love this game so much

She didn't WANT to work together with them. She had to form a temporary alliance with them because it was the only way to stop Rhea. And she planned on putting a stop to TWSITD after the war was over.

Edelgard is a fantastic character in every route except Crimson Flower. They just couldn't commit to having a Villain Protagonist, and instead tried to white wash all the horrible things she did. I much prefer her character when she fully acknowledges the horrific shit she's done, but is perfectly willing to keep doing it because the Ends Justify The Means to her. Crimson Flower spent way too much time trying to downplay the horrific shit she did.

Crimson Flower was the first route I finished and it made me despise Edelgard. I just recently picked the game up again and now things make much more sense.

@@Gamester121 yeah I'm pretty sure we played different games bc the one I played, she was a villian in 3 of the 4 routes, and still didn't come across as the good guy in her own route, plus there was historical background that explained the existence of the church, mainly the people edelgard sided with that destroyed an entire race and harvested their bones for weapons

No, theres a cut between the divine pulse part and Lysithea part. And the character positions are different. They chipped Edelgard down using other characters instead so Lysithea could deal the final blow

Oh man, Edelgard is so full of herself. Pretty sure the righteous path was the warless one of mutually learning and understanding each other Claude had envisioned and would have enacted had she not kept her head stuck up her butt and forced a war on everyone.

It wouldn't have even been that hard. Most of the people at the monastery hated the system in place and would've gladly helped Edelgard if she asked them for it, Rhea included.

Here’s the thing about the house lords, Edelgard wouldn’t have wanted to extend her hand as it would’ve caused them to walk down her road of bloodshed. A path to change she knew she had to walk alone. Dimitri’s mental state is so fragile that he couldn’t be considered a valued ally without proper support. Support that he never would’ve gotten at the officers academy. And Claude for all his well meaning schemes, is well, a schemer. He plays his cards to his chest and it’s hard to tell what he’s thinking. Because non of them open up to anyone outside of Byleth,they only see each other as former school mates who now stand in their way

A righteous path was impossible. Dimitri wants revenge. Claude doesn’t trust anyone with his secrets. And Rhea believes that humans must be under the leadership of the Church and the goddess. There was no absolute righteous path. All of them are down a road of bloodshed.
