You need more modern buses. Our regular buses (Barcelona) have 3 doors, articulated buses 4 door. All doors have an open buttons. When I press a stop sign the "stop requested" sign above the nearest door to me lights up and the door will automatically open (and if not, I can still press the open door button). This is not unique to where I live but becoming a standard in many countries around the world.

@@AL5520My transit agency is way too cheap to get the high tech door options. They're too distracted with the whole "EV" thing, paying a bazillion dollars for each and every EV bus that you can't drive in the snow (it snows every year up here), and you don't dare drive with the AC or heat on for too long because it drains the battery and leaves you AND YOUR PASSENGERS stranded on the side of the road. Even without that problem they leave you stranded on the side of the road. In fact, at the end of the day, most of us would rather drive the old school diesel pushers.

@@BusDriverLife The fact that it's an option does not matter if no one uses it. The problem in most of the US is not availability but usage due to lack of funding and shortsighted. Multiple doors, using more than one door to get on and off, good information screens makes it easier for passengers and drivers and the system better and more efficient which will increase ridership.

Heres something you may find interesting. :) The name of my country has nothing to do with the interesting and delicious bird ''turkey''...... .....but the name of the bird does have a connection with the name of my country, let me explain. :) Name of my country has always been Türkiye, it's been known as such since around the 1200's. The name it self has a suffix, '' -iye '', that is Turk-iye, where the -iye suffix means 'land of/belonging to', just like the Latin suffix of '' -ia '', which exists in such country names like Austr-ia, Austral-ia, Latv-ia, Roman-ia etc etc again meaning 'land of/belonging to'. Many would remember the country Czechoslovak-ia which changed it's name to Czech Republic and a few years ago changed that to Czechia (that is Czech-ia). The Latin suffix -ia probably originates from Turkish -iye as Turkish is much older, ancient Turkish been over ten thousand years old. Spelled in different languages in different ways to phonetically resemble (to sound like) '' Türkiye '' we got various spellings like; Turquía (in Spanish), Turchia (in Italian), Turquie (in French) Turkei (in Germn) and Turkey (in English) all trying to resemble the pronounciation of ''Turk-ia'' thus Turkiye. Mind you this was way before the animal we currently know as 'turkey'' was found by the europeans when they explored the north americas. The bird was first sent to europe from north americas in the year 1519, so up until that point there was no bird named 'turkey'.... ...they came across the bird and thought it was a specie of the fowl/chicken they had been buying from the country of Turkiye at the time, so they named the bird ''Turkey Fowl'' meaning ''Turkish Chicken''..... ....just like how a dog breed is known as German Shepherd (because it's from Germany), American Bulldog, British Terrier, Greek Harehound etc etc. In time you don't get to call the Greek Harehound as simply as ''Greek''; or you don't call the British Terrier as ''British''; or the German Shepherd as ''German'', but in time the Turkish Fowl started to be called just ''Turkey'' and later ''turkey'', and has been going on for hundreds of years. Now in modern times, this is causing confusion, especially when we have people across the world unable to point to their own country on the map, this ''confusion over the naming'' needed to be corrected. So my country decided to rectify this confusion that has been going on for so long and corrected the name to Türkiye, which it always was. Basically we didn't change the name of our country, we changed the mistake made in the English language. : ) So, there's some tid bit information for you to have a great day, if you read upto this point you have a great night too, ohh just have a wonderfull life. : ) Best wishes. ;)

I don't suppose there were any trolley buses on display? Personally, I think they are an underrated technology. They are overall the most energy efficient type of bus, with lower environmental impact than battery-electric, and their range is theoretically unlimited (except of course by how far the catenary wires go.) They are great for longer, well-established routes. Don't underestimate their relevance.

Switzerland has plenty of trolleybuses. Most of them are from Hess (a Swiss company) and range from articulated to bi-articulated with four and five doors, respectively. They also usually have small batteries to run short distances off-wire. The newer bi-articulated ones are really fun because of their huge rear window which covers most of the bus' width and is the same height as the other windows.

Hey Keywan, I would also like to say that you could maybe make some videos talking about bus priority. I believe city buses are special vehicles that have a very important hole in our societies and they should have priority over particular vehicles. I think the major problem I have when I drive buses is that other drivers seem to think buses shouldn't be there. They try to cut you in every opportunity. But buses are big, heavy and full of people. It should be the opposite. Every driver should drive carefully near buses. Maybe it's not as bad where you live/work. 🤔

It’s definitely bad here. We have little to no bus priority lanes in Sacramento.
@Gean...de...Oliveira

@BusDriverLife I think the problem is that buses are naturally slower, they take more space to make turns and from time to time they stop so passengers can get in and out, but other drivers don't want to wait. Specially in todays world, people seem to be less and less patient. It all about "me, myself". That's why to me bus priority should be part of our traffic laws. Without the help of everyone around the bus, it will struggle to get through. But I have to say, considering the content I see about the US, like POV driving etc, things are considerably worse here. Per example, the majority of drivers doesn't seem to understand what a STOP sign means and the Police doesn't seem to care. At least where I live.

4:48: That Vicinity looks really nice... but I really find the placement of the vertical bars odd to say the least, with especially the right bars almost at the center of a passengers' head, running a great risk of injuring them in a more violent-than-wanted stop. I also don't understand why the placement of those bars differs from left and right, as the layout seems symmetrical. The BYD articulated looks like a downright copy of a VDL Citea-E on the outside, but hey... that's what the Chinese do (and why there's a tendency by now to steer clear of them, as many believe (me included) they will try to take over any market, to than raise the price of everything as there's no other option left.

Nice models. I actually think more cities should re-introduce trolley buses, buses that operate via electric catenary wires. Would save money, be even cleaner than battery based buses, on the routes that are busy and frequent enough to have the technology. We really should have been doing this for the last few decades, and yet I've seen zero of these buses expand. Electric battery buses make sense, too. Its not one or the other, its a collective effort.

Sometimes you can tell based on the roof. Usually, XD40 (and XD60) buses have lower rooflines compared to their CNG counterparts. Some companies can spec the higher rooflines so I usually end up using sound to tell them apart

New Flyer has electric, diesel, CNG ( compressed natural gas) and we just got two new Hydrogen Fuel Cell buses. They look the same but it is slightly higher than our diesel hybrid. I assume the model number you’re referring to for each type of bus. That one electric with all the buttons and switches. I would love to get my grubby little fingers on them.

Some really nice buses and I believe they are overall, much better than the buses we have here in Brazil. BUT, I think our buses look much better. 😅 You can take a look later: Marcopolo Torino, Caio Apache, Mascarello GranVia. And they still front engine, manual transmission in most of our cities. Buses here are basically trucks. Mercedes-Benz, Volvo and Volkswagen are the major suppliers of chassis. Then Marcopolo, Caio, Mascarello, Comil etc build the bodies.

@@MarloSoBalJr Marcopolo is one of the biggest bus manufacturers in the world and Caio one of the biggest city bus manufacturers here in Brazil. I enjoy the design of Marcopolo city buses, but I believe I had a better experience with Caio, as a passenger. My favorite is Neobus. Both as passanger and driver. But Marcopolo took it out of the business recently. 😢

Never understand why USA use cable as stop buton and the rest of the world just a button. However, there are many thins difference between USA and the rest. For the short busses, they are very useful for tight streets or places with little demand for bus routes Are there only USA companies or also from the EU and other places?
@MarloSoBalJr
@MarloSoBalJr 5 ай бұрын
Umm, we use buttons like anywhere else. It's easier to spot/fix an electrical issue with cables than with buttons. Our busses are a standard ~8.5 ft (102 cm) wide, but it also depends on the wheelbase b/w the axles (and "racket & pinion steering") to determine if a coach can corner and squeeze through certain avenues. At the moment, the only EU manufacturer in the States [building city busses] is Van Hool. Volvo; MAN; Mercedes-Benz is pretty much a motor coach/touring bus and Alexander-Dennis is a subsidiary of New Flyer, so no solo manufacturing in the US market.

It's great to see brand new electric buses on the road but it's not great seeing them being vandalized from inside and out especially inside were the seats are tagged up. I take the bus to avoid paying for parking when I go to downtown especially in LA when i catch the bus I see nothing but seats full of graffiti and trash when you aboard the bus. People nowadays don't respect tax payers means of transportation. Good video.
