The 2000 XJR I owned from 2012 to 2019 was the most reliable car I have ever owned, we used to call it ‘The Flying Chesterfield’ due to the most comfortable interior any of the family had ever experienced. It made my old E32 735! feel like a park bench by comparison. If I could have, I would never have parted with it.

I could be wrong but given a few years if you keep up with the service and ongoing restoration not only will you get your money back but you will make a profit too. Looking back at one stage I could have bought an E type requiring work for around 4,000 pounds. Now refurbished they sell for some 125,000 pounds. Only thing I would suggest is that before applying the Lanoguard I would have given the underbody a thorough wash in deionised water to wash off as much of the road salt as possible. In the corrosion reaction the road salt is not consumed but just acts as a catalyst for the rusting reaction and as it is hygroscopic will draw moisture from the air to make unprotected steel continuously rust. Found that out when lying under my Triumph Vitesse and although it hadn't rained for weeks and was a dry winters evening, there were glistening beads of water all over the rapidly thinning chassis.

Damage to the inner edge of tyres can be caused by straddling those pyramid shaped road humps. Less comfortable but better to drive two wheels right over it with two in the central gap.

@@exgtt2061 from a materials and mechanical engineer with motor vehicle engineering, never trust a sill older than 3 years. That's why the dealer warranty only lasts that long. And NEVER place support under the engine as the engine and subframe can move on bushings. Support the body from the frame only EVER.

I’ve also had my wheels refurbished but Adam at Smart Rimz and been equally impressed. I like the watch that you show the work actually being done on your car - even speeded up - because it gives people like me more of an idea about what is involved which means that I can dare to consider tackling a few of the projects myself. Great work Jack. Just to add to your list of expenses, have the cam chains and tensioners been replaced? The tensioners as fitted have a habit of failing which can lead to disastrous engine damage. To my knowledge there were 3 versions of the tensioners: one all plastic, one partly alloy and one mostly alloy. The one to fit is obviously the mostly alloy one. Also the hoses which run in the valley are worth replacing as they are probably original, this is a bigger job on the supercharged engine. Sorry to add to your pain☹️ just thought that if you are looking for a bulletproof restoration that I should mention this......
