I started watching you when I was 19. I’ll be 27 this year. I’ve learned more from you about life, tools, and just generally being a good man than anyone else in my life could have ever taught me. In that time I got into the trades (HVAC). I’ve gotten married, had a son, and joined the Marines. And anytime I’m having a rough go at it I just pull you up on KZbin and watch your videos. It’s not what your videos are about that keep us watching. It’s the way you make them, your excitement, and enthusiasm will keep us watching as long as you want to make them. Thank you for making an impact on my life and I’m sure the lives of many other young men.

Thank you Mr. Wranglerstar you don’t know how important you are to all of us.

I have two sets of tools at work. The box in the maintenance crib has all my quality stuff. When I am rebuilding gearboxes, drives, pumps, spindles, hydraulic cylinders....the bench work, it's with those tools. Snap-On, Craftsman, Proto, Channel Lock, etc. When I get a call on the production floor, I grab my bag full of Harbor Freight stuff. We use a wet coolant system with sluices under each machine to carry away the chips and swarf created by machine tools. Your hands are always slimy and so are your tools. All the sudden you hear tink tink tink and a wrench you lost grip on is now white water rafting to the sump in the basement, 100 yards away. Occasionally you can recover them inside the hoppers, but it's rare. Or you think you have everything and you left some tools sitting somewhere inside the machine...gone. Never to be seen again. And people "borrowing" tools as well....gone, never to be seen again. So that's my system, it works pretty well. And it saves me from replacing high dollar items as frequent

The last minute of this hit pretty hard with where I’m at in my life. Stuck in the medical field where every week there’s a new mandate or some kind of sensitivity training. I got into the field to help save lives but all it feels like I do now is follow orders by people that shouldn’t be giving them in the first place and when I question I’m told not to. That led me to really look at what I want to do for the rest of my life, which in turn led me to choose to start welding school and become a CWI and to work for myself. It’s thanks to channels like this that put me back in touch with my construction background. Funny how I quit construction only 5 years ago because I thought I was bettering myself, but now I’m choosing to go back to it to better myself.

When I went to work at the railroad, there was a set of Williams wrenches all the way up to 2" that were already old, when I got there. They had a hard life. I used them for 46 years and never babied them. They were left for the next guy to try and wear them out. They were good, heavy and felt great in the hand. Can't go wrong with Williams.

I've been watching this channel for around four to five years. I am 31 now and for me, I cannot express how rejuvenating and invigorating it has been to explore these subjects in the manner you express. I grew up learning woodworking and basic mechanic skills from my dad. Not to say I haven't stopped learning from him (because I do each and every day), but that was the spark of my own passion. And winding down from a long day at work and expounding on the subjects previously instilled on me by my dad has been absolutely wonderful. Five years ago, I would have never thought, "I should remake the handle on my hatchet". But after trying it, every single wooden handled tools I own has been shaved, sanded, and oiled with love. And I loved doing it! YOU have furthered that spark of passion, and pushed my soul in the direction it needed to go. My wife and I are working on starting our family, and the direction of our next chapter is fueled with knowledge behavior I have learned from watching this channel. In both the technical and spiritual sense. I never comment on videos, but felt compelled to express my own experience after hearing your words (even though this simple paragraph only summarizes the tip of the iceberg). Always follow your passion, and I look forward to the coming content. God Bless - Andy.

What a great mindset Cody! 👍 I‘m about to turn 50 years old this year, and I see so many thoughts, fears and motivation about the little and also the big issues in life that we have in common. As a man, husband, professional homeowner and father of two kids, I enjoyed and learned a lot of things from you, and, I‘ve seen many of my ideas and perceptions to be confirmed by you. I also lost my father 11 years ago, this is one of many things where I felt so close to you. I‘ve seen videos which literately made my cry. But after about 4 years I still enjoy the entertainment of your content! Keep listening to your heart and do whatever makes you and your wonderful family happy! This was an awesome video, I'm not exactly watching this video because I need tools, I am a typical kid that got roaped into buying 50k of snap on tools because I'm a mechanic. I'm watching this video because I try to catch every video you make, I choose your channel over any television show. I've learned so much from you, I've gained passions as I learned that your interests fall in line with what I find interesting, and I could not thank you enough for the things you've taught me. When I was younger, my dad picked work over family and unfortunately he was not there to be a role model for me, and my pap passed when I was a year old, leaving me without any male role models, I've stumbled through life trying to find my way on my own. The day I found your channel is the day I started learning how to do tasks that I wished I'd learned, I've learned how to be a better man, I've adopted your mind set of trying to do everything in a way that I could be proud of. That being said, I couldn't help but notice almost every video you've made in your current homestead has been different, I felt like the light has left your eyes and this has become more of a job for you. This video you have admitted that my fears are actually true, but now that it has come to light, I have faith that you will follow this path to rekindle the things that have brought you such happiness. Words can not express how much I'd like to thank you for all of the amazing content you have blessed us with, but I'd still like to say thank you. God bless you and your family.

Of all the tools in the kit, I can’t believe you didn’t go with the new Eagle Grip locking pliers by Malco . They even have a Snap On version for a little bit more. I am 31 years old and have spent 12 years buy quantity not quality. This was very necessary due to the number of specialized tools needed to complete jobs on different name brand cars. At this point, I have every tool I could need. 2 post lift, welder, plasma cutter, hand tools ect. Now I am reinvesting into better hand tools. This is because the Chinese hand tools have worn through the chrome and the brass/cooper is showing underneath. This has caused a few striped bolts. I wish I had the money when I was younger but that was not an option. Thanks for the great videos.

I'm a lifelong mechanic by trade. Close to 40 years. I still like the old 70s-80s SK tools. Naturally Snap-on, Mac, and Matco, dominate the tool quality market. Alluding to a recent tool video, you mentioned Blue Point, my Snap-on man told me they are the same wrench as Snap-on. The only difference being the finish. There are several older names of renown quality that take up residence in my toolbox are, Williams, Proto, and Cornwell. All American made.

My favorite part of this video was the last 30 seconds. Many of us have had the "get a safe, secure job with benifits and a pension" pounded into us. The last year showed us that is the least secure and least amount of freedom of all. I know many people who lost that pension and career because they refused to take part in a forced experiment on thier health. I know many more who took part in the experiment without informed consent, against thier will amd under duress for fear of financial ruin. We need more discussions about how to not be in that boat and to teach young men how to never get in that boat or atleast to have a lifeboat when it's time to bail out.

THANK YOU Cody!!! I was talking about this to my girlfriend just the day before. I told her, “I love watching Wranglerstar and would prefer to see the forge set up first if I have to choose… But a month ago he said he had one more tool kit video in the series. I just want that finished first! LOL” I’ve loved this series, and Jack is going to have a heck of a starter set! Quick side question if you have time… What would you recommend carrying in a minivan that isn’t all too secure in an area with a lot of car prowlers? This kit is great for working on vehicles at home in the shop, but I wouldn’t want them stolen out of my company van. I carry a Leatherman with the bit-kit and ratcheting bit extender as well as a magnetic flashlight in my EDC, but last month my battery died all they way to the point that I couldn’t even jump start it and here I was “gadget EDC guy” without being able to undo the the 3 fasteners to change my battery…

I think I found the car tool kit video. My favorite part… It’s called “20 Winter Truck Tools & Tricks you NEED to Have” from Oct 17, 2021… However, it mentions exactly 46 or 47 different items depending on how you count (including the SAE and metric sets of Allen Wrenches as “one item”). The fourth item you mention is “a folding hand saw or a small axe” so I listed that as a single item.

Everyone needs to make their own choice. Multiple lifetime quality verses get it now, break it tomorrow. If you need something in a hurry, fine. Personally it depends on what it is for me. I struggle buying anything from Harbor Freight. I had some loading ramps that were dangerously weak. They wouldn't hold up 100 pounds. If I can pick something up I don't need ramps. The ramps were advertised at 500 pounds. Total fallacy. I then checked the jack stands and engine hoists. Looked and felt incredibly weak. I won't trust them on anything that I could end up in the ER.

I'm a true fan Mr. W follow your passions, I'll follow along for the ride. Also As a Canadian I too put lots of value on supporting local and buying Canadian manufactured goods, but can I add an addendum to that adage, because I see you seemingly struggling with the inclusion of quality, but not non U.S made goods in your tool box and presumably life in general. The last few weeks has really shown that we (the West) are all in this together and when the chips are down we rely on each other. Supporting a German factory worker ensures that they are paid fair wages and are able to buy quality U.S made goods. Let's support quality work done by people who are fairly paid for their effort, regardless of where they happen to live and lets say no to low quality slave labour junk and the systems that make it possible. Keep on keepin' on Brother!

You're part of a new phenomenon that you're not aware of, Cody: You're like a father to a lot of young boys and men who grew up without one around. The passion you describe in your videos is more than just the tools, repairs and builds, it's all the challenges of life that they revolve around it. I learned how to tow a vehicle in the army, I thought it was common knowledge, which was wrong. Now there's hundreds of thousand of young men out there who saw you organize the tools, drive out to your friend who was stuck on the side of the road in snow and tow his truck out of the ditch. This is not just a job, it's an experience, one that many wish they had with their fathers.

Your review of the video response along with the balance of the video was perfect and spot on. When you mentioned what was in the video response I turned to the misses and said, the guy isn't wrong. And your response to that was perfect. 🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷

Your rant hits home. Just turned 40 in December and still working for others to pay the bills... and feeling left empty. Hoping to resolve that soon... if you're not opposed, may reach out via email to get your take on a more personal level.

Your commentary at the end was probably the best I’ve seen from you. Very inspiring and came across as very heartfelt. Thanks for the content you continue to provide for your subscribers.

I use the 24mm wrench for fittings all the time. I think $260 for a set that only has 15 wrenches and not the one i need wouldn't work for me at all, but your milage may vary ;)

Sometimes you need a thinner wrench for applications like flash hiders. Many are too thick and don't fit the flats right, and interfere with crush washer and hider dimensions forward of flats. What is a good snap ring plier for AR14(

Channel lock has made in USA snap ring pliers for around $30. If you are looking for something cheaper, the Quinn from HF have worked well for me as someone that's only using them a couple times a year. I think they were like $12 with coupon, $16 without . Channel lock also makes thin jaw adjustable wrenches I've used on muzzle and barrel both (depending on the barrel nut style)

@@feyrband I want quality, and tips that are tough. If I can find that for 30$ that is a win. Was debating on buying a good set, just in case need for other applications working on vehicles or something.

The most compelling content on youtube is watching someone chase their own passions and hobbies.

Thank you for the quality content for all these years. You were my first KZbin subscription. I would be all about videos of still pictures of progress on shop infrastructure projects. That way you could really get down to the business of working on and completing critical projects around your house without all of the work and distractions that come with professional videography. Jeff Baron is doing something similar on his house building videos. I find it just as entertaining as watching him pound every nail. I'd log in every day, and be happy to do it, to look at pictures of your progress. A short intro or outro explaining what you were up to is all that would be required. God Bless.

The advice my father in-law gave me shortly after I married his daughter is every time you do a new project buy a new tool to complete that project. Eventually you’ll have all the tools you need. The best part about this advice is when my wife objects to a tool purchase I just say, “Your dad told me to!” Some of the projects I’ve done have required more than one new tool. After 11 years of marriage, I find myself making less and less tool purchases.

As a man who enjoys a good argument, I have nothing to argue with on this kit as a place to start. Well done.

I will say the size marking of the wrench could be larger on the Williams however I can buy a lot of reading glasses for the price difference on the wrenches only.

I had a teacher in A&P school who if he caught you with a crescent wrench would throw it into the woods! Thanks for the great rant!

What we like Cody is you sharing with us what you do day to day. Challenges and successes. Laughing with you when you make mistakes. Because that is exactly what we do. Now when I make my mistakes there will probably be more cussing. But we laugh. Keep it up brother

Cody, can't wait for what will come! I'm happy you're going to make videos on things that you like to do. Just like you said, people can sense what isn't authentic. If you do what you love to do, no matter what it is, and having the kind of enthusiasm you have, I have no doubt that it will be interesting, educational and fun to watch. Happy Sabbath and God bless!

my dad always told me the reason the Snap-On wrenches hurt your hands is that was about the point they thought you needed a bigger wrench.

Generally in life you get what you pay for. Pay cheap=get cheap. I’ve learned this over years of life experiences. 👍

The Klein 20 in One, ratcheting screwdriver is much better, imo, than that Williams. More options, the bits have a place to mount to…not just sitting loose in the handle…and is a much sturdier feeling driver.

Would be a cool series if you picked up a bunch of old vintage tools and restored them.. those type of videos are some of the first videos I remember watching of yours.. loved those kinds!!
