Many OPM songs way back from the 70's, more so during the 80's and 90's are already in English. It is the second language in the country. For instance A Friend by Keno is an OPM but the entire song is in English. Then there's one OPM that had an enchilada of other languages too. It's by Celeste Legaspi I just forgot the title.

Funny you mentioned Chris Brown bec the producer of the song did produce a song for Chris Brown, and has worked with other famous Western artists like Justin Bieber, One, Direction, etc. Original Pilipino Music (OPM) spans different styles (pop, ballad, rock, disco, indie, etc.) and could be in either Filipino or English or other Filipino languages or dialects (English is considered an official language in the PH). A song is considered OPM when it is performed and composed by a Filipino. In this case, I WANT YOU is performed by SB19, co- composed by Pablo with Filipino-Canadia August Rigo, and produced by Rigo as well. I WANT YOU definitely falls under OPM.

Filipinos can write songs in Tagalog and English (or any other languages in the Philippines) and still be considered OPM. FYI, English is our 2nd language and it is actually more used in official documents, school textbooks, signages, etc. I think you will like CRIMZONE from the same EP.

Thank you. I've fallen back in love with R&B thanks to SB19. I think it was a very short singy songy rap Pablo did. But I wouldn't really call that part rap. It's an R&B song so I'm sure SB19 wanted to stay true to the genre. If rap was included then it would be either a hip hop song or R&B & hip hop.😊

Yes it is OPM... Cause we are Bilingual more now as Multilingual... We use Tagalog and English as our official languages so there's no question about that. And it's original that's what OPM stands for...Original Pilipino Music and made by Filipinos. We can incorporate a little of Spanish and it will still be OPM as long as it is written by a Filipino.

OPM was first coined in the 70's, the heyday of original Filipino music. You'd be surprised how many English songs were composed in that decade and well into the 90's. English is our 2nd language so it's normal for us to appreciate songs written in both Tagalog and English.

I think the live performance and choreo was splendid and artistically done, not too much steps, just enough to convey the sexy vibe without making it trashy or cheesy. You have not seen the MV that is why you feel somewhat 'wanting' more. As to your question whether it is still OPM, of course it is, English is an accepted lingua franca in the Philippines. I am actually surprised that with all the time and effort you have been reviewing so many aspects of our Philippine songs and even tv series, you still fail to understand that part of our rich culture. Anyways, I have always felt your enthusiasm towards our Mahalima is not that much from the very beginning you have been reacting to them, though you have slighlty started to accept them for their versatility and vocal talents.
