I Discovered Mysterious Symbols in an Uncharted Canyon

Etched into the side of a canyon, I discover symbols that look modern, but show signs of extensive erosion.
As I went deeper into this strange labyrinth of canyons, I uncover more clues as to what I might have found.
And at the very end, something colossal.
Thanks for watching, and as always, please leave a place better than you found it.

Seems to me and I'm no expert but I think you were walking on the sea floor . The "waves" on the rocks look like sea worm tracks I've seen on the sea floor made on the sandy sea bottom. The "bubble rocks" look like coral. The Grove rocks look like petrified sponges . The Jim carving looks as if it was effected and worn down that way because of repeated flooding.

I really love your videos. The round rock balls are called Moki/Moqui Balls that are iron oxide concretions. The split rocks that had some moki on them are called Brain Rocks. They are round shapes that actually start to fall apart from the outside and it leaves a brain in the middle. Of course, there are other huge rock formations that are called Brain Rocks that we have seen in White Pocket and Coyote Butte. Some of my favorite rocks are the ones I call concrete rocks. @11:00 is fossilized coral-I have a large sample covered with druzy quartz that I retrieved from an ancient Missouri seabed near Haunted Ridge. It’s so old that the crystals growing on the fossilized coral are estimated to have begun growing 66million years ago. Fascinating finds indeed!

As an avid amateur geologist, if I found these, I'd consider the layered rocks to be narrow sediment where softer sediment has been weathered away. The whole area reflects a sedimentary creation pattern. Likewise, the odd, circular bubbles are indicatory of fossilized fungal and algae-like lifeforms that exist in shallow tidepools. The one item of wave, [symbol], sun also has an arrow pointing up. Could be a manmade road marker. No idea how old. Would be interesting to do some tests of when that etching was made. Was that on original rock, with orig orientation, or had it fallen off another rock?

@the_pov_channel That corridor becomes a sand blaster on steroids when it gets windy. Could easily erode all of that "Jim" stuff in less than 100 years. The other carving there is a "you are here" pictograph showing North (crack arrow points North), East (sunrise on right), South (river on bottom), and man's straightline roads north of that location indicated by the "dot". Check your modern map to confirm.

🤯 Fantastic idea. I think you may be onto something here. However, it was on the left side of the canyon and the arrow would be facing due south. I will be exploring this theory. Also- the tail end of the "writing" is eroded to the point where large chunks are missing. I wonder if this can happen in less than 100 years

@@the_pov_channel The question I have is, why would anyone bother carving anything this deep? Even if that's after a century of erosion, it looks like that would've been half to one inch deep when it was made. Even with modern equipment that's a stupid amount of effort for no purpose.

@@burgerbobbelcherthere's very sandy 'sandstone' in San Diego cliff faces where you could carve that in about 5 minutes. you're not allowed to because the cliffs regularly erode and jeopardize the homes above, but the time involved really depends on the rock.

Those rocks at timebar 8:05 are pretty sure petrified wood from a specific tree million years ago.
@talitha8909
@talitha8909 22 күн бұрын
Millions of years do not need to pass for something to petrify. :-) Scientists have petrified objects quickly with certain conditions, usually water, minerals, and electricity. Many items were found petrified after Mount St. Helens erupted in the 80's, which again disproves the anti-God "millions of years" theory. Food for thought! :-D

Certainly spectacular landscape ! I was a prospector in the desert in outback Australia more than 50 years ago, and it is amazing how similar and familiar the countryside seems, even if the Petroglyphs differ somewhat. My first impression of the shapes after the name was possibly a map, with the snake-like shape being the channel you were in ? Anyhow, now that am too old and crippled to travel any more, I rely on channels such as yours to keep my mind active. (The geologist in me wants to take a closer look at the rock formations, and stones and pebbles in the watercourses; and the archaeologist wants to seek artefacts ) Take care! Greetings from rural South Australia!

@ashleysmith3106 21 күн бұрын
P.S. The rate of erosion of the petroglyphs on rocks in higher areas would be much less than that of those (e g "JIM" ) in the channels, that would be subjected to the effects of floodwaters carrying sand and rocks with them. (Many of the geometric glyphs are similar to those made by the Indigenous Australians )

The road going kind of East, out of Mecca that goes through a winding area has a lot of awesome canyons similar to this one but not on such a grand scale, unless I just didn't go far back into them enough. Absolutely Love going on these adventures with you and Toohey.😊😊 My guess is .... What is on top now was likely to have been deep ocean floor once upon a time. Perhaps the bubbles were where gas or liquid had been bubbling out of the ground. Plate tectonics shift, and the source of heat/water or gas is lost. And also very ancient life forms from said bottom of the ocean floor. It was then silted over to create an environment where preservation can happen and then much much later exposed like now as more tectonics shifted the landscape

We are all here for a blink of an eye when compared to the existence of this planet. I used to explore desert canyons, but back then I only had the back pages of a telephone book to guide me and a 35mm Minolta camera that is have to have the film developed on before knowing what picture I actually captured. How I wish I had what is available now, especially a drone. I thought about using a remote-controlled plane with an old video camera, but aerodynamically couldn't get it to work. Thank you. I have lived in both the southern high and low deserts for a lifetime and you are showing me formations I have never imagined. In my areas, the ancient seas had come in and out of the desert twice, leaving ocean bottoms, lakes and shorelines below sea level, all badly eroded. Sometimes, sitting in one spot and casually looking at close distance would reveal fossil formations so weathered you’d never see them at a glance. What you are showing us is so detailed, so intricate that it’s kinda shocking to me. Thank you again.

The beauty of these rocks is breathtaking. As I was admiring them I had the same thought you did as if they were surprised to be being admired.....that is 'maybe nobody has ever been here', at least not all that often recently.

That old writing is in such a dramatically different rock type and location to 'jim' that you cannot compare the weathering between the two. 'jim' sand looks like large or different clast and loosely consolidated, the other one looks much more fine and well consolidated, certainly more firm and hard/cemented in order to get those sharp fine lines into it in the first place.. 'jim' location also looks to be pretty exposed to all weather, and some or all is on an upward-facing slope, so getting all the runoff, direct rainfall and wind, etc, there is no shelter at all for it. The other one looked extremely sheltered location, and with an overhanging portion of rock to protect from much of the aforementioned erosions, perhaps, but IDK.. 'jim' also is so low in that canyon that it may have been underwater at times, especially if flash floods or debris flow scoured past every so often, or even just a few times ever, it could increase erosion dramatically. Combine all these factors and to me it looks like modern carvings. Modern relatively, of course, maybe cowboys you know something like that.

Fascinating as always, logically is it drone tracking behind you,which seems like someone else is filming you as a swerve through the curvey canyon? As always kudos on you high production values & also for taking me somewhere i will never have the opportunity to explore mysef. Maybe ive just been so blown away with the sheer awe & wonder of what you're sharing ,but,i can't for tife of me remember your awesome dogs nane; i also have ment to ask before,but,what happened to her tail. I grew up around the world,but,my parents owned a farm in Norfolk - the bump on the east coast of England - & if were there at right time id help with docking the lambs tail. We also had a Jack Russell, called Badger,who was forever getting stuck down rabbit holes/warrens,he was docked by the breeders before we got him home,but,were ready to deal with his tail the same as the lambs. Docking is now banned on all bar a few breeds & even then you have to prove the dog is going to be for working purposes. I just want to know the story behind yours loosing theirs please. As always fascinating ,thank you & sending very best wishes to you&yours👋⭐️✌️

Whats really mind blowing to me is, in those big ass conglomerate boulders, all the induvidual stones are rounded. That only happens to stones in water from being tumbled. So look how much river stone makes up those boulders. How thick they are layered. And then think about that layer resting up top thathasnt fallen yet, running on for who knows how far and wide. You're talking about an almost incomprehensible amount of water running through there laying down all that river stone. 🤯🤯🤯
